I agree but if we continue signing freebies, we will end with 10 Grygera´s and Salihamidzic´s in our team and MAYBE one star.

The board shoud invest big money into younger, emerging class CB for many years to come.

I just read that Secco was close on signing Mellberg on a pre-contract for July/June. If this is true i'll walk to Turin by foot and kick secco's ass. We need a defender NOW and not in June. By that time, chiellini and andrade will be fit again...

@vimo:Source?:eyebrows:
I can't find the article i read (guess i was too angry shutting down my browser :) but also here they write:

http://controcampo.mediaset.it/articoli/articolo4888.shtml

Here they write that they already HAVE the deal for June, but are negotiating for an immediate transfer... now if that won't work out, i guess secco has screwed up... because IMHO andrade, chiellini, legro are better than mellberg (as far as serie-a defending goes) and considering this, we just signed a 1-million-bench-keeper

EDIT: now look at this; http://goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=556381

OK, it's goal.com, and it's that monkey-ass of a writer. but if this really is true i'm gonna cry... mellberg in June and sissoko now... sounds like a disaster to me

well if we got mellberg now and sold boum boum i wouldnt mind. because as much as i want a WC CB now what are the odds of getting one near the end of jan, not likely especially with secco

It will be easier to negotiate a deal with Villa if Mellberg has already signed a pre-contract.

Secco is going about this transfer in the right order and I expect Mellberg to join us soon.

Signing Mellberg now, would be a brilliant move, so he would help us now and be a decent back up for the years to come.
Having him at the summer might proved as a bad since we might bring back Criscito and another younger and use Andrade and Legro as our main CBs for the next year, covered by Mellberg, Criscito and Chiellini, would mean that there absolutely no chance in earth that our managers would be a world class defender in the next 2-3 years...

They would be stupid to not make the deal happen now, because a CB is extremely vital now when there are so few avalaible, not so much in the summer when you can shop for one for months.
