I'm not sure how Sissoko could be considered world class for any reason aside from the fact that he plays for a National Team... same with Mellberg.

I wouldn't mind Mellberg as a stop gap and a Boumsong replacement... but for anything else, they're dreaming. I would not hang my hat on Andrade... he might not be the same when he returns.
We should sell or swap Andrade.
Andrade+:money: = Veloso anyone?

They wouldn't take Andrade now.

Veloso would be great for Juve though. Playing him on the left of a 4-1-2-1-2 would be my choice with Zanetti in front of the D, Camo on the right and a playmaker.

If Ranieri considers Sissoko as a worldclassplayer, what is Van der Vaart than? If we sign Mellberg and Sissoko, I won't mind falling in a coma and wake up when we're back at worldclass-level.
Melberg and Sisoko should come now, but world class Diego will come in June..that is what he meant..
If you guys reading papers, sometimes you have to read in between lines. You must always keep the faith.

I hope tottenham will buy Tiago so we would not loose any money..What a FLOP he was

Melberg will be great for us. He is at right age, very solid, and has experience from much physical league than ours. He will be honored to play in Juve colors and in CL..
Melberg you are welcome

Guys have faith in Mellberg.
Don't knock him the same way a lot of members here did with Iaquinta.

I have never bashed Mellberg b4, but I personally prefer Ujfalusi since he has experience in Seria A. But as long as we bring a quality defender and get rid of Boumsong, I am happy.

The Mellberg hate is something I don't understand. NONE of the defenders in our squad are world class and yet people are pissed that we're getting Mellberg. He's good, he's cheap, and he's experienced. I'll be pleased if/when he signs.

i agree with Stu, Mellberg will be a solid player to bring in and the main thing is he is cheap and available! He is certainly an upgrade on Boumsong and would be good until the end of the season. next season he can become our no. 1 backup and we should bring in a better CB but for now he is available and could slot in nicely to our team.

Juve close on Mellberg and Momo

Olof Mellberg and Momo Sissoko are ready to join Juventus this month, paid for with Tottenham’s £9m for Tiago Mendes.

According to this morning’s edition of the Gazzetta dello Sport, Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill has given the all-clear for Mellberg to be sold in the January transfer window rather than wait for June.

The Bianconeri are prepared to throw in £700,000 to have the Swede six months in advance, but no more than that.

If Villa ask for more, then Juve could drop the matter and wait until the summer when he will be out of contract.

A defender is needed immediately, as Jorge Andrade has been joined on the long-term injury list by Giorgio Chiellini, who will be out for at least a month with a knee problem.

Claudio Ranieri’s side will not be scrambling around for spare cash, as it is also suggested in today’s British newspapers that Tottenham are prepared to pay £9m for flop Tiago.

The former Chelsea midfielder has been a disaster since joining the side from Lyon in the summer and blew his last chance when Ranieri admitted he was “disappointed” in his performance in the 5-3 Coppa Italia win over Empoli midweek.

That money would immediately be reinvested in his replacement during the January transfer window, as Liverpool’s Sissoko is desperate to join the Turin giants.

It is rumoured the Reds want £10m, whereas Juve are biding their time and hope to snatch him for £7m in the final hours before the deadline.

They have already agreed a four-year contract with the player worth £1.9m per season.

Ujfalusi or Mellberg they have both cool looks:p :p

like warriors Ujfalusi with his hair and Mellberg with his beard like a viking warrior:rulz: :rulz:

so let get one of them...i would prefer mellberg not because he is better than ujfalusi but because i think the viola have also problems wit the defense and they sure wont sell him to us...

we are the idiots who sell our players to florence but they wont sell any good players to us...

Are your referring to my earlier post about trading Andrade+:money: for Veloso. Bc if you are, I never mentioned anything about the FM game and I have never played that game. So please clarify :irritated

At the beginning I wasn't too excited about buying Mellberg but now I feel like he could be a very good buy for really not much money. He can be a starter as long as Chiellini is injured and if he performs extraordinary good then he could even partner Chiellini. After we hopefully bought a WC defender in summer he could be the new back up in place of Boumsong. Forza Mellberg.
