No way. Our back-line looks good! Since Andrade didn't play much, I see him as a nw player. Mellberg, De Ceglie and Knezevic give us the depth and class we will need!

No really. IMO our weakest point was the left-back position. There we have De Ceglie now, he has been very good with Siena and can only get better with Chiellini next to him, and Nedved in front of him.
We have Chiellini, who has shown his quality in the center the whole last year, and his Euro was also great. In fact, he was one of Italys best there.
At right-back we have a lot of depth. Brazzo, Grygera, Zebina and Mellberg can all play this position. One of them should be fine. I give my vote here to Zebina. Offensivly he is the best of the mentioned.
For the second spot in the center we have also a lot of names. Mallberg, Andrade, Legrottaglie and Knezevic. I really don't know why people stopped rating Andrade. I still think he is a top-class stopper. He was unlucky and had a very bad injury, but I am sure he can get back. Legro was outstandig in some games last year (still has his moments of though), Mellberg is an experienced defender who can also add leadership and yeah.....Knezevic.....a squad player. I really see no problems there!

Anyway.....back to the topic. If Poulsen arrives and Tiago is leaving, we will still be after Xabi I guess.

given that we sell almiron and tiago, there's no reason not to go for xabi. we should be able to get at least 10 mil pounds from selling both.......or am i being too positive?

Stankovic > Poulsen

There is absolutely no reason at all to sign Poulsen. None. We are covered defensively in midfield with Zanetti and Sissoko, and if we play the straight 4-4-2 like Ranieri wants, Marchisio can fill in there as well. Poulsen is just another waste of time and hopefully this isn't true. FFS, we need people who can pass the ball, which is why I wouldn't mind having Stankovic provided we get Xabi.

But Poulsen? Come on now.

Reports in Italy have claimed that the Denmark international was on the Bianconeri’s radar but Gigli is not so sure.

Poulsen is remembered as the player who provoked Francesco Totti in Euro 2004 and he was spat on for his efforts.

“We will see what happens in around 10 days,” Gigli told Calciomercato.

“I don’t know if Poulsen will arrive but I am sure that [Jean Claude] Blanc will decide who the right player is for [Claudio] Ranieri.”

“Stankovic? Never say never in football. Just look at what happened when a certain Roma coach said he wouldn’t coach Juve only for things to change.

“I can understand the fans but things don’t always go in the way you expect.”

The Bianconeri are in the process of strengthening their side and a midfielder is top priority.

Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso was on the cards but his unwillingness to get his move rolling again seems to have left Juve with no choice but to look to alternatives.

For me it should be Poulsen + Stankovic. In no way you can compare these 2 players (or Poulsen with Xabi). They play completly different. One thing why I think Ranieri wants Poulsen, is that Momo is a bit injury prone and the way Momo defends in midfield, nobody does. Neither Zanetti nor Marchisio have the power or tackling that Momo has. However, Poulsen does have what it takes to replace Momo. So I guess we are getting Poulsen to replace Momo when needed.
I still think its Poulsen + Stankovic or Xabi. But just Poulsen would, as you said, make absolutly NO sense at all. This would be a Capello midfield...

Are we fuckin Lazio or Sampdoria that our main target is some medium- European player? why do we need to settle on a player that S04 and Sevillia throw away?
Damn, the fact that his is even linked to us is insulting i fucking miss the old trio.
