We might hate the guy and all, but this will be a huge blow for italy.

In such a group, defence blunder might just be enough to clear out, who will advance and who wont.

France will have the advantage of playing rumenia first, holland can play very fast football, and with so many scoring options, they will cause lot of problems for azzurri.

I really want France to not qualify to next stage.

damn canna out of euro! i've been looking forward to seeing him skip the azzurri in a big tourny again  one way or another, canna is definitely a big loss to the team, being the leader of the pack and all but this might also have the same effect as calciopoli did in WC06, hopefully :scared:

damn...chiellini you animal :pumpkin: he's going to have lots of fun with all the french crybabies.

nesta is just a drama queen. i understood totally why donadoni refused to kowtow to his bitching back then. nevertheless, i hope he comes out of his 'retirement' because matrix and barzagli in the heart of the defence.... :scared: :moan:

I'm really worried, without Canna, our defense seems so fragile. Poor Canna, he got injured just before the kick-off only few days. However, I think it's really a big chance for other youngsters.

I hope Chiellini will take his position. Forza Canna, Forza Chiellini.

Well I'll be honest, I for one am worried. Cannavaro is our best defender and captain, I don't care if he wasn't the same player as he was in 2006 but he's the BEST, and we just lost him. The man is a freaking great wall of China. The closest replacement to him would be Nesta but that's not happening. So yes, I think we have a cause of worry. Let's just hope our other defenders could step up their game, because in this Italian squad no one reads the game and players better than Cannavaro.

Has Pirlo ever captained the side before?Buffon is the logical choice, but if Del Piero is starting, then it should be him over Gigi. But Del Piero might not be a first team regular,so it'll probably be Gigi afterall.

I think the fact that Donadoni's lost his best defender would mean that he'd opt for a more defensive approach to make up for this loss.We might not see a trident upfront now.He wont go Gung Ho as the papers claimed.

Canna was my MVP of WC2006. But since he's been in Madrid, the man has been dodgy of late. I don't think he's going to be as pivotal as you think. There will be others besides the defense who will be bigger screw-ups. ;)

Materazzi should take the armband and find a superhuman way to headbutt himself.Or he should headbutt the tail of the plane that will be taking Barzagli to Wolfsburg, only to have Tahir step out of the cockpit and headbutt Materazzi after he calls him a terrorist:agree:

Headbutt Supreme:agree:
