Here's my two bits on the game...

Buffon was his usual self, steady, sold, poised and confident.

Cannavaro and Barzagli were a competent CB duo... had lots to do cause of the porous midfield.

Panucci looked effective offensively. Better than Oddo was, and almost as spirited as Zambrotta. Average defensively.

Zambrotta looked really good as well, though he started off a little sheepish and below par.

Pirlo was the glue holding that midfield together.

Camoranesi was a mess... made lots of good moves, but was all over the map, getting in his teammates way, and just random. Not quite at peak form.

Ambrosini was junk aside from the cross.

Perrotta was totally invisible. Aquilani was an improvement.

Di Natale was effective today. I think it was due to his getting more room from the Ukranian defenders than he should have. Johnny on the Spot today, but not exactly a dominant force.

Iaquinta was effective as Di Natale's partner, but he can do a lot better. He seemed to draw more attention, and seemed to be tackled a lot harder and dirtier than he should have. His size probably negates a lot of sure calls.

Donadoni needs to go though. Italy should have lost that game... only the luck of Di Natale warranted them 3 points. Hopefully enough guys return from injury, cause I worry about Italy's d-core without Cannavaro.

Might we see a Zambrotta-Barzagli-Chiellini-Oddo/Panucci/Grosso formation v. Georgia?

Did I not say Ukraine is not a good side? I don't why some nations are thought of as being good when they have done fook all?

Russia is another 1, I don't know why they were being feared when they are just above average.

All they like to do is shoot from long distance without creating much attacking play.

Italy were very unfit last nite but had enough quality to beat Ukraine, Zambrotta was the best player as he seems to be superman.

His energy levels are amazing, Pirlo as expected had a let down from his great performance on saturday whilst Iaquinta is very useless.

Di Natale though horrible at least has a bit of pace and does not keep on changing his mind like Dp does.

Perrota looked as unfit as his lack of playing term this season suggests and Panucci was horrible going forward.

Buffon, Cannavaro and Barzagli were very good, though Barzagli likes to take unnecessary risks at the back.

Ambrosini's great pass enabled him to get a pass mark cos otherwise he was poor

But ukraine were just abject, playing like that, they won win many matches.

Scotland were 1st class and showed that France with Domenech are totally bereft of ideas in beating teams who defend well

Nasri and Ribery should always play and I don't care who does not and Ribery should not be wasted on the wings.

Scotland have to beat Georgia in Georgia as I believe thats their most difficult game. It will be a darn shame if they dont qualify as they have been the best team from this group and in fact in the whole qualification groups, only Germany have been better.

Italy and France have just been sleepwalking their way to the top and only 1 of them deserves to qualify with Scotland
Iaquinta wasnt useless at all,he played a Good match,he was runninng everywhere & he fought on every ball.
At least he has some pace in comparison with Alex & Inzagui.

As for Di Natale,U cant call a player who scored twice in a close game ending 2_1 horrible,it is just not right,he wasnt that Impressive but again he has pace & thats exactly what Italy are lacking upfront.
I think when he starts playing for Udinise regularly, him & Toni will give a Good line up upfront.

It will really Suck if either Italy or France didnt qualify,I know that Scotland are playing it like worriors & they have the Best Crowd in the world, But not seeing Class players like the ones of Italy & France in the Euro will not be pretty.
Anyway Italy can still make it happen & beat Scotland in Hampden Park which will really be The Hardest Test for The Azzuri.

Ale - Iaquinta would have also worked better than Ale - Inzaghi, but we can't ask more, Di Natale had a good game and managed to score. You gotta like Di Natale's style.

Agreed!
Inzagui needs players like Kaka,Seedorf behind him.

Iaquinta is very poor skill wise but He has great Pace & amaizing Heart.
Toni will be Italy's hope against Scotland,I think a Toni_Di Natale partnership could do it.
I will really be pissed off if either Italy or France didnt qualify,Thumbs Up for Scotland though.

P.S.:Love ur Avatar.

I think France, Italy n Scotland have as much as chance as eachother so it should be interesting! its up 2 the teams to play well to get through n its noones fault but theyre own if they dont so it should make for an awesome few last qualifying games

Inzaghi is way 2 overated.. most goal poachers would look awesome with Seedorf n espicially Kaka behind them..

Donadoni: Del Piero Was Not Dropped

Italy Coach Roberto Donadoni has denied that Alessandro Del Piero was discarded from Italy’s starting line-up against the Ukraine because of his poor performance against France.

The Juventus striker started the Euro 2008 qualifier at San Siro on Saturday but put in a very disappointing performance by his standards.

In the subsequent match against Ukraine on Wednesday evening Del Piero was not even named among the Italy substitutes as Donadoni opted for Vincenzo Iaquinta and Antonio Di Natale up front.

“Del Piero out of the Ukraine game? He was not dropped. Alex gave a lot in the game against France and I needed fresh resources. Unfortunately, in these occasions one has to make painful decisions,” Donadoni explained.

The former Livorno boss also offered his opinion on Scotland’s shock 1-0 victory over France in Paris, a result that means Italy may now have to win all three of their remaining qualifiers to book their place at Euro 2008.

“Scotland’s victory over France changes nothing. We are all there in a balanced group,” Donadoni stated. “We will see who goes through in the end. For now all we are concerned about is the game with Georgia.”

Georgia are Italy’s next Group B opponents on October 13. The Azzurri will once again have to contend with problems in defence as Fabio Cannavaro is suspended and Marco Materazzi is unlikely to be back from injury.

Hey do u know that Italy won 4 world Cups not 3??
Omg Boumsong,Henry & Perotta!

Man Italy won the 4 world cups & not Juve,Juve is the biggest team in Italy & they have to produce at least 40% of Italy's squad.
Juve won 2 CL & Madrid won 9,we are not compione del mondo,we need 8 CL to be champions of europe only.
