^I'd play de Rossi or Perrotta instead of ambrossini and diana not featuring at all.

my formation would be...

Buffon

Oddo----------Canna------------Chiellini-------------Zambro

Camo-------------Pirlo------------Gattuso

Quagliarella------Del Piero

Toni

hope the Canna that played against Hungary got hit by a bus, Qual,DP and Toni were playing better than pippo, di natale and Qual the 1T trident created more chances hard luck they didn't score, 2T the team was running like headless chickens bcos our attack didn't offer much to the team except score that lucky goal our main threat in attack was zambro.

Im predicting a 2-0 win, more like hoping

why is that

I expect Chiellini and Nocerino in Euro 2008 squad
2010 squad will be more interesting to see, with the likes of Chiellini, Nocerino, Montolivo, Rosina, De Rossi, Aquillani, Giovinco, Andreolli, Pazzini, Palladino, Rossi the list is endless at their peak and buffon as GK i would kill to coach that team

That would be a cool squad!

So if Donadoni suddenly dies, we will know who's responsible. :p ;)

Yes, these names are pretty obvious as being the future Azzurri. With so many ex "Under vent'uno" players, they remind me of Vicini's Italia 90 squad. I still say if the game against Argentina had been played anywhere other than at Napoli,
Italy would have reached the final...

I think Donadoni will have resigned before that situation arises, Angela...

 @ the bolded. I agree that DP and Toni played better than the other forwards, IMO Qual should've been subbed off, not them. But I understand that it was a friendly, and he was trying other people.

Azzurri: Don calls in Panucci Sunday 2 September, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Christian Panucci and Cristiano Lucarelli have been given an Azzurri recall for the Euro 2008 games against France and Ukraine.

The Roma defender has not received a call to the Italy squad since a 2-1 win over Bulgaria on June 22, 2004, but was brought back after Alessandro Nesta’s retirement and injuries to Marco Materazzi and Fabio Cannavaro.

Although Cannavaro is in the squad, he is not 100 per cent fit after sustaining an ankle injury in training with Real Madrid.

Luca Toni is also struggling to recover from a muscular strain, but is in the side for these two crunch matches.

So Shakhtar Donetsk centre-forward Lucarelli is drafted in by Coach Roberto Donadoni, having previously earned just two caps in friendly games.

Pasquale Foggia receives his first senior Italy call after his sublime performance for Cagliari against Juventus this afternoon.

Italy face Group B leaders France at San Siro on September 8 and play Ukraine away on September 12. It will be a homecoming for Lucarelli, who now plies his trade in the Ukrainian League.

Italy squad: Abbiati (Atletico Madrid), Amelia (Livorno), Buffon (Juventus), Barzagli (Palermo), F Cannavaro (Real Madrid), Chiellini (Juventus), Gamberini (Fiorentina), Grosso (Lyon), Oddo (Milan), Panucci (Roma), Zambrotta (Barcelona), Ambrosini (Milan), Aquilani (Roma), Camoranesi (Juventus), De Rossi (Roma), Foggia (Cagliari), Gattuso (Milan), Perrotta (Roma), Pirlo (Milan), Del Piero (Juventus), Di Natale (Udinese), F Inzaghi (Milan), C Lucarelli (Shakhtar Donetsk), Quagliarella (Udinese), Toni (Bayern Munich).

Well done to Giorgio, he deserves it.

this is definelty a more formidable squad then the hungary one. we may have been looking in trouble for defense but i think as long as canna is ok and in good form we will have a great defense

You wouldn't consider a backline of

    Oddo..........Barzagli............Chiellini.............Zambrotta?

If Canna shows his Madrid & Hungary form I think Donadoni will be forced in to using the above for the 2'nd half. Still, if Cannavaro can convince Don in the remaining time...what anyone else thinks won't matter.

And Red... I imagine you'd see Giorgio in left centre with Zambro as LB even if you don't agree with my entire back 4?

I hadn't really thought about it.

I would go with what you said except Canna in for Barzagli.

I expect Donadoni to play what you said, but Canna in for Chiellini.

I would go with that backline also, since Cannavaro is injured. If he is fit to play, than Barzagli-Cannavaro as the cbs.

If Italy dare start with this back line and they are not walloped by France 3-0 then I'd be disappointed with France.

How can anybody in their right mind replace Cannavaro, the captain, for Chiellini, a player who just has 6 caps and plays as a left back for his club.

This is not trying against faroes Islands, this is against Henry, Trezeguet, Ribery and nasri

It would be almost commiting suicide to play 2 relatively inexperienced centre halves against France

It's a backline chosen for a very attack minded formation which I gave a few posts back...Donadoni would never go for it, nor is he adventurous enough to attack the French in the same manner I would.

& to Denco, the fact is, with the players we have available to us right now, attack is our best option...

    My lineup:

    Buffon
    Oddo - Barzagli - Cannavaro - Zambrotta
    Gattuso - Pirlo - Aquilani
    Quagliarella - Del Piero/Di Natale
    Toni/Inzaghi

read this article not for potti's dreams yet for his comments on south africa! he wants to play in the 2010 world cup! i personally find this ridicoulous he should in no way be allowed back. Fuck you potti you turned your back on your country and you need to pull your head out of your ass.

Yet that drawn-out saga is not necessarily over yet. When asked if he would consider returning to the Italy squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa if they were having problems, he was cagey.
