I think Sony is the most functional of the lot, and most easy to use. Even though im an amateur at this, i dont think id put Nikon in the race between Sony and Canon as far as digis are concerned (of course they're right up there when it comes to film cameras and the like). And although some of you here say Canon are the name to be reckoned with, your obviously meaning at the top of the spectrum, but in reality a decent mid range camera like the P200 would compare favourably to a similar product from the Canon stable (in this case the IXUS if im not mistaken). Anyone got a Sony P series camera around here?
really? I would have thought Sony is an outsider here..

Based on Experience and other owners of the brands, not SLRs:

Sony: I think they are outsiders too, they have a big brand name and they make digital cameras with plenty of features haven't seen one with a good value (pricy)

Nikon: Great Looking pics, easy to use, good value. I found the pictures very natural, much like Canon cameras.

Kodak: Many might say outsider but I think Kodak is the best point and shoot cameras, they provide great pictures, some better than cannon. And they are considerably cheap compared to the rest.

Canon: Great pictures, easy to use yet usually plenty good manual functions. One of the top contenders definately. Great natural colors.

Casio: I have never liked Casio interms of their Cameras, but my dad convinced me to buy it. Menu a bit difficult than other cameras but Im very satisfied with the overall package of the one I bought.(own Casio EX-Z750)

I think Nikon and Canon provide the overall best cameras with Kodak offering the best Value for money. My Casio is still pretty new and I dont have experience with many other cameras by Casio so I cant rate too much.

PS: I prefer Notebook, the only downside is the price. You have to pay atleast three times the price of a desktop to have equal performance = graphics, speed, memory, storage.

That's always been my impression too. It seems all the others are a step behind.

Like Jeeks said, Once you use a Notebook, there's no going back to PC's. Although, the baterry life is a b!tch. When i first got the lappy, the baterry used to last for 2h 30m, but now after almost 2 years and a half, the baterry only lasts for 40 minutes.

As for Digi cams, I've got Soney Cybershot DSC T3 , its PERFECT in every possible way.
