Totti's attitude is something that can be changed. His enormous skills cannot.
Therefore, Totti neds to stay on the National Team.

Whenever I watch Italy play with Totti, it seems like the other players rely on him too much. Also when watching Totti I don't see him doing things that actually make sense, like he does with his Roma side. He just doesn't seem to work well with his mates on the Azzurri. Don't know why that is, but IMO he should be dropped.
And who would you drop him in favor of?
What trequarista out there can replace him right now?
Are our midfileders creative enough that we can switch to a 4-4-2? Not really. The most creative is possibly Pirlo, but he's a man without a position on this current squad.

People want to take Totti off the team, but if you don't have a replacement for him, then what good does that do.
Take a look at teams like Portugal who have Deco and Maniche, or the Netherlands who have Van Der Vaart and Sneijder. Creative, attacking midfileders who are just as adept from 25 metres away as they are in the box.
Italy doesn't really have someone like that, except for Totti. Most of the midfielders are hustle guys and those who aren't afraid to do the dirty work, but with the exception of perhaps Pirlo, who would you trust leading an attack?

My point is the problem isn't Totti. Its the strikers that have been with him for the past two years. If the strikers did their job and finished chances, then this wouldn't even be an issue.
Keep Totti, Dump Del Piero and Vieri, make sure that Cassano is in your starting 11 and stays there for the next decade, and partner him with Gilardino, and there you have it.
