Verratti is WC and even started playing well for Italy now (about time), so no doubt he'd do well with us. Miles better than anyone we have.

But he's way too injury-prone, has an unhealthy lifestyle, and isn't young anymore. Also, we need a mezzala who attacks the box or makes plays in the final third; Verratti plays deeper. All things considered, there are better options for us.

Isn't young anymore? He turned 26 last month.
That's neither young nor old, oddball Gertrude. And with all his injuries and unhealthy habits, his peak likely won't last as long as others.

Rather spend similar amount on a different WC CM or less on a younger, already very good CM with clear WC potential.

So is Alaba leaving or Hernandez playing at DC?

Anyway, if Christian Kouamé does join Napoli from Genoa I expect he'll turn out to be a very good signing for them and worth a lot of money in a couple of seasons. Watching him close up he looked more impressive than Piatek in many respects (obviously not a similar player) - his athleticism was phenomenal, good work rate, and he had a lot of nice touches and awareness to see his partner.

If Hernandez does come, he's a Boateng replacement most likely. Alaba won't go anywhere
