The problem is the lack of quality in the Turkish league. You cannot bring a 25 years old Vidic who's at his prime to the Turkish league. And because of the shitty foreign player limitation, we can't afford to gamble on a 20-21 years old potential and see the outcome. Players like Vidic still has something to offer to the sport. Just like Drogba, Popescu and Hagi or even Pirlo for you guys. These are quality but exprienced players and at the same time "they respect what they do" unlike players like Ronaldinho or Quaresma.
Why did we transfer Melo? Because he was problematic. Sneijder? Because of his injuries. Hagi? Because of his age and the problems he had with Cruyff in Barcelona. Drogba, Popescu and Taffarel? Because they all were old.
All these players I listed, you can't bring them to Turkey at their prime years. There's no way. So Vidic is indeed a typical Galatasaray transfer, but a good transfer imo.

To be fair you'd probably not get a prime Vidic to play in Italy, either, but I always wondered why GS signed so many players who were big names ahead of younger players with potential to be massive. It's like the team never develops, but has to keep regenerating itself in small cycles. You are similar to Porto in that respect, but whereas they make tonne of money you have to spend money.
In football countries such as Portugal, Holland or France, there are no foreign player limitations. So teams like Porto, Ajax or Lyon can afford to gamble on many young talents around the world, knowing that 5 out of 1 or 2 of them will indeed be a positive financial or sportive comeback to the club. Look at us, we signed probably the best player of U20 WC and we can't play him enough due to the foreign player limitation in our league. All of a sudden the kid finds himself in a level much higher than his current limits like Champions League and shows poor performances because he's not getting enough match experience.
Remember the first half of both R.Madrid games. We totally dominated the first halfs, then all of a sudden they score 4-5 goals in the second halfs. Why do you think Real mauled us this way in both games? I agree that there's a gap as far as quality, but that's isn't real reason. We can't play all of our foreign players in the league, so their match condition becomes like shit because they are not playing enough matches.
