I'm not his biggest fan either, but if we can get something like a straight Vuci-Lamela swap, which, given Tottenhams interest in Mirko is legit and Lamelas recent performances isn't that unimaginable, then we should take him. He's still talented, and got plenty of time to improve.

Levy will want some sort of cash involved in the deal.

Lamela wont ofcourse cost that after flopping...

And seriously you guys need to realize quality when you see it, poor cop out to think he was performing because of Zeman.
15m + Vucinic is atleast 30m. What, you think Mirko's price dropped after winning consecutive scudetti?

He was effective and fantastic in a team that attacked with 10 players all the time and payed little to no attention on actual defending. He'd need to put in good defensive shift if brought here, but he's not the type of player we'd ever be interested in, so discussion of his arrival is futile. I'm pretty sure there are videos of Crouch and Heskey that make them look like fantastic players, but fortunately our mgt has different criteria.
He was good because x-coach-was-there never makes much sense. So what if he played attacking football? Some other players failed to deliver despite offensive tactics. Lamela did great in Rome and it's wrong to say he's a one season wonder. In his first season he did decent but don't forget it was his first year there and he needed time to settle, not to mention that he was a little kid. After a while he started shining and his price was pretty fair considering his output at that age. What he did at that age was not possible for majority of other players who came to Italy. It was an obvious talent. It has nothing to do with Zeman. He did what he was asked to: had a great pace, was amazing dribbler, was cutting in and most importantly -- was effective at that. When he gets the ball in the midfield he goes forward and gets past 3-4 players, crosses or goes for a goal and scores. It's him who does that. It was not Zemen who used teleport skills to blink him in front of the goal with his superior brain activities.

Fred said why he failed as well. He is not the first, nor last, player who 'failed' in EPL. That still doesn't erase his talent and ability to be great. Actually, it's a fantastic opportunity for clubs to take the gamble and sign him for much less money. And hell, the boy is well worth that gamble. He'd rape in Italy without a doubt and any club will be lucky to have him. He can easily fit in Spain, Germany and Italy. I hope it will be us who will see that and try to sign him (eventhough it's hard to believe we'll even bid).

Of course that coach has something to do with players performances, obviously their choice of tactics, but I'll agree with you to a certain extent here, as players as well need to have right characteristics. Undeniably some players function better in one system, while in the other they simply flop, can't adopt, lack of football intelligence, etc...We've seen it all before, young players having a great season, full of expectations, dubbed as new Baggio, Del Piero, Kaka, Zidane, etc...reaching heights they never seem quite capable to repeat after. Check out few offensive players that have been trained by Zeman and number of goals they managed to score. I'm not gonna write off Lamela just yet, as we're talking about youngster here, but for 30m, speculated amount, there are better options, less risky ones. And I cannot see that our mgt would pull this kind of move. That amount if we're gonna spend, then it must be a proven player, capable of making difference and Lamela isn't in that category, yet and he might never be.
