Release clause?

Selling Bale for that amount is unbelievable. I still don't get it. Kaka, Cristiano and Zidane had massive success and were labelled as once in a lifetime players with years and years of success before they were bought for those kinda money.

How do teams justify selling their young stars for anything less than 70m after this? If you have a young star on your team, 30 or 40 million will look like pocket change. You want Luis Suarez? 80m at least! I'm pretty sure Napoli will be getting a huge amount of money for Hamsik next year.

The most funny thing is once they sell him for huge money they can buy 3-4 players that are very good and this way improve their team.

I agree it's ridiculous and it'll make it only harder for us to keep going with our current transfer policy. This management don't spend big money on a one player and it works perfectly for us so far. I hope we somehow manage to keep it going this way because spending big money on players is too common these days and it doesn't guarantee any success.

If Bale wasn't British nobody would have questioned his ability, 30 goals and 11 assists ffs. Pretty close to Ronaldo's numbers at United

Ronaldo had sustained success at United for at least 3 years before getting his (justified) massive money move to Madrid. Scored more goals than Bale, won more titles than Bale, provided more assists than Bale. Not to mention he is infinitely more popular and marketable from a jersey and ticket selling standpoint. Please don't try and compare the two it's ludicrous.

United was a much stronger team than Tottenham, keep that in mind. Plus Bale wasn't good only this past year, he's been impressing over a few seasons.

And Ronaldo was immense from 2006, especially after the WC til his move to Real Madrid.

Clearly Man U are stronger than Tottenham, but Bale isn't anywhere near the level of Ronaldo, now, or when Ronaldo was his age.

I don't think Bale is as good as Ronaldo either, but people definitely underrate him on this forum. He was EPL's best player last year. Not worth the price but he's a WC player regardless.

Yeah I'm not about to say the guy is not a class player, he has ripped the EPL up for the past couple of seasons. Just feel that Madrid are massively overpaying (again) for a player they don't really need in all honesty.

Hope he flops hard for the lulz.
