Meh, it's not like Juve weren't in the same position as these teams in the past. Breaking transfer records and buying the best players.

There is less pressure to perform at Porto than at Juventus.Jus saying. If we adopt their transfer policy ,we'll become like Roma and plus a club like Juventus expects immediate results hence i dont think such kind of a transfer policy would work here.

If you look at Porto's recruitment policy most of their transfers are from South America and that was what i was relating to.It will be easier for a young unproven south american talent to settle at Porto.

Moutinho about 20m and James not more than 25m. They overpaid way too much, Porto must be laughing hard.
Seems about €15m-€20m too high to me.
Could be even more, Interdestroyer has a point. But it's not surprising to see them overpay so much, afterall it's Monaco who just came back to Ligue 1, they have to pay big in order to secure big names (or talents).

Either way, the way they started investing it seems it's gonna be some scary team to play against.

they have 2 eye transfer managers
Our one eyed transfer manager could sell them Vidal, Pogba and Marchisio for a lot of money, I'm sure, but we're supposed to be trying to compete for the CL.

Porto have a good set up there, South American links, strong team in an average league, ideal conditions to buy cheap and sell high.

I don't think so, so far all these teams have sucked in CL, the best was Zlatan's PSG this season. They will probably challenge for the league 14-15.

Maybe.

But so many leagues and clubs in the same position can't do half as good business as Porto.

It's probably due to the fact that they have a built a reputation on selling players that go on to do well (most of the time) for a high price so they thus they can uphold their high price and ability to say no to lower prices

If I had to take one player from Porto, it would be Mangala. Strong, aggressive, rapid, good in the air and only 22 years old. After a couple years of hanging out with Chiellini and Barzagli, the guy would be like a brick wall.

That's because they don't have the infrastructure and planning. Look at Sporting Lisbon, they have been incredibly poorly managed and now need a fire sale. That is the best academy in Portugal. On the flip side Benfica have realised what to do, Portugal is a great breeding ground.

Don't get me wrong, what Porto do is impressive. They have cornered a market of 19-26 year olds and give these players games. What I've never liked is comparisons with us. If we did the same and sold our best players having given them 2-3 seasons we could have a similar model, but who wants to be a feeder club?

Imagine the amount of money we could sell players for at inflated fees if we wanted. Maybe we'll end up this way in this league...
