You probably thought the same when Bayern won the German league 10 years ago, and look now, they are with two teams in the CL final.
I agree that now, at this moment, it looks like the French league is a shit league, but in a few years, this might all change.
And to be honest, footballers' careers go up until +/- 35. If you have the option to have financial security by then OR to be a legend for some team, but don't have the financial security, I think the second option is an option worth thinking about.

I think most top players care more about the Champions League than domestic titles. Wasn't that what Raoila was telling Ibrahimovic when he moved to PSG. Also it helps in deciding knowing that other top players are going too. Ibra or Thiago Silva alone wouldn't have gone to PSG, but together they felt more confident of challenging in Europe. Same with Man City when they had to spend a lot of money to build a squad just to convince top players to join in.
I did say that I thought that of Bayern,less than 10 years ago. ( I still don't really rate the German league TBH). As for your second point if you play at a top division in most of the leagues in Europe I'm pretty sure you'll have financial security.

But you do rate SerieA who is way behind the German league in numbers of points, finances (wages), modern stadiums, number of fans visiting the matches and so on?
And it of course depends on how you deal with your money, but I think the wages f.e. Ibra now earn at PSG are just much more interesting then what he would ever be able to earn in serieA.
