Fernandez set for Fiorentina

Fiorentina insist that they have not done a deal for Matias Fernandez, but the Sporting Lisbon player is a target.

“The transfer is not complete,” Viola sporting director Daniele Prade told Sport Italia. “I can confirm that a negotiation with Sporting is active, but nothing has been defined yet.”

The 26-year-old is a Chilean international midfielder who moved to Portugal in 2009 after three years at Villarreal.

“We are working hard to make sure that the two clubs and Matias are satisfied,” the player’s agent, Alejandro Santiesteban, is quoted as saying.

“We are now at the details stage of talks and things could conclude positively in the near future.

“For now, Matias is in Portugal and he’d be very happy with a move to Fiorentina. If he goes then it will be outright and not a loan.”
