Hydde: it was a pretty big story in Italy this summer when he let it slip out..then JUVE OFFICIALS said "it was taken out of context". It was to a local paper but it made headlines then was muted for a while. Anyways in all fairness I don't think thats what he meant...he just meant that this type of purchase was over-due since Nesta and Cannavaro slipped ..

Fliakis .. true..but their world class overshadows it....Leggro has played in the BIG LEAGUE for just over 2 months...so one overshadows the other in his case...or rather MAY

When a reputed WORLD CLASS PLAYER (Maldini, Nevded (happy!) Nesta) is rough its not as much as a concern as when a player trying to move up the ranks is rough from the onset..not sure if I'm explaining it properly..but hey I've been watching post-game shows all night! I'm beat.

I should add that Leggro has more class than Materazzi and displayed it when he and Maldini got into a ruckus last match up..he backed up and went to speak to him after the match. Materazzi is classless....he should have been charged in the superior criminal court of Milano for some of the things he did to Sheva last year.

I'm very satisfied with legro this year, although when I saw him play in Boston this summer I wanted to run down on to the pitch and kick his teeth in. I thought, "Oh God, what a mistake", but he's come around quite nicely since then. His early struggles could probably be attributed to being nervous never palying for such a big team before, but thankfully that has passed.

Mmm, welll, maybe bettega said that... but well i think it was a mistake.

After all, he is proving that he could do a great job in the back line. He is not as famous as Nesta... but who cares if he can do his job pretty well.

IMO he was a good choice.

but i didnt like his 'celebration' when he scored against chievo. i mean, i dont know if it is out of respect or sometthing, but he should've just celebrated :groan:

I'm quite pleased with Nicola's quick integration into our team. He looked shaky at best at the beginning of the season, but he's looking much more solid and hopefully he'll keep improving :thumb:

Yeah, I'm on here all the time, so I definitely didn't do that to boast. It's just I rarely post. I read a lot though.

I'm happy to see the positive feedback on Legro as I see him as Cannavaro's replacement on the NT in a few years.

Plus, I think this man has a starting position on ANY team in the world. It's very tough to find even ONE team that he wouldn't start for including (all Seria A top teams, Madrid, Barca, ManU, Arsenal, etc..). What I'm saying is that he's better than at least one of the central defenders on every team in the world. (BTW, if he were on milan, Maldini on the left, Nesta and Legro in the middle, and Pancaro or Kaladze out of a starting role. cause i feel some of you were thinking that)

Usually, tradition states that you don't celebrate when you score your first goal against your former team, as a sign of respect to your former fans and teammates.

-Be wary of defenders who develop later in life. They have a short span in which they perform. Much like Materezzi.
-On some occasions he is too rough. Much like Materazzi.
-Much of his efficiency has to do with his size. Much like Materazzi. i.e. its not a question of great ball handling, defensive mindset or movement.

Today, Materazzi is a shadow of what he was.

Lets be a little careful of how we use "rare breed". Much like GENIUS or GREAT it will begin to lose its meaning. Especially if you are going to use it on a player who has been playing all of 2 months for a top level team....let him earn the titles as many have.

When Juve bought Legro, I didn't know what to think. I knew, that he was great in Chievo, but it is not a gatantee, that he will do the same level with Juve as well. So I thought let's see how can he work together with the others ow will he play in the near future, to get a proper opinion about him. And then, the first match came ( which I was able to see ) with him on the pitch. To tell the truth I was dissapointed as he caused a penalty during this very first match! And as I remember he wasn't good at all that day. OK! - I told to myself - one match is not the world, maybe he needs more time to became a good part of the team, and I hkoped, that he will get more chances from Lippi and I also will be able to see him. And thanks God he got his chances and slowly, but surely he became better and better. So, after 4-5 matches, I was very happy, that he is with the team. Unfortunately lately I'm not able to follow the Juve matches live, I jsut can watch the highlights, so I can't decide how does he play nowadays. But from what I can see and what I hear and read about him, I know, that he does his very best, so I'm very happy with him in our team! I wish him to be able to follow on this way in the future as well.
