Yeah, after a goal you are serie a level.
it's not even the goal. he's playing well, not only for a young guy with zero experience, but also compared to the league standard

not that stats based ratings are perfect and trump every argument, but i feel that this is more or less representative of our players' performances so far:

i'm not a fan of weah but i have no issues admitting that he scored important goals recently and is much more useful as a pure winger than he was as a wingback last season. same with locatelli: his defensive work makes him valuable, even if he doesn't score. and yes, savona is an easy starter for this young team. his form might drop, he's young and inexperienced, but what he did so far is way beyond expectations

He is much safer choice defensively then Cabal. Who tho a defensive fullback, has really shaky and outright spastic positioning. Its a joke how bad Cabal looks defensively, not just 1v1 but positionally. Never where he is needed.

Also Savona starting means Cambiaso on the left, where he is so far much better at both creatively and offensively when cutting in. Is it just me or has Cambiaso looked average every time he used RB?

But besides the 2 goals, Cabal is better offensively with the runs and crosses he makes. But it's not worth the huge trade off defensively. Where Savona is really strong at, he is rarely ever out of place there.

In fact to me it's shocking no one here praises Savona for his defence. He is the least experienced player to get plenty of minutes, but he looks the most seasoned out there defensively of all the fullbacks.

He just knows where to be and what to do. It's boring and not sexy, and he is supbar offensively (besides the goals), so it's easier to nitpick on that. But I'm impressed with how safe he is defensively.

His excellent defence is what makes him Serie A level.

Honestly really pleased with his performance and goal yesterday, we have to admit he will make mistakes along the way, he's not going to suddenly turn world class overnight, but he definitely has a place in this team, I would feel far more comfortable with Savona at RB than say even Danilo right now

Agreed. He's been solid defensively, which is what matters most.

I wonder if Motta will consider trying him at CB eventually. He's got the height and speed for it.

I'm not suprised, Baldy is pretty eager to try any young Italian. Look at Comuzzo, Pisilli, Okoli and Maldini there too. Low profile players who haven't gotten that much minutes yet.

Also it helps his only competition for that spot currently is Di Lorenzo. Bellanouva is like right wingback or midfielder instead of RB.

I assume in 3 backline Savona will sub in as right side CB.
