What if Fiorentina finish top 4? Then this deal would have influenced the outcome.

He has been a failure. With his long ban it also affected his chances to grow and fight for a starting position. But loaning him to Fiorentina who are 1p behind us with a game in hand is weird. By no means is Fagioli a world beater but loaning him to Parma or Genoa or smth makes more sense, like years ago with Giovinco at Parma. Fiorentina is direct competition for 4th right now. Its not even if he is good or bad. Fiorentina play in Conference League. They have been 2x runner up last 2 years. They need rotation options anyway to compete both Conference league and serie a, and they are fighting with us and Lazio and couple of others. This transfer gives them options to rotate and rest players. Why would we do that to our direct competitor?
And Lazio has our other boy, Rovella, who we sold for pittance as well.

At a macro level there would be no problem with this deal if in the bigger picture we were getting better players for the long term.

however more crap from Atalanta? Or Lolzillians? Feels like a wasted effort.

One of my boys joins my other boy Palladino. I think this is more on Motta than Giuntoli, as Giuntoli extended his contract at a time he could’ve easily kicked him out. Motta the one that rarely played him. Can’t wait to see more of Luiz tap dancing on the ball.

Dumb decision when you see that Luiz and Koopmeiners who costed +100m are hardly performing any better. As said before these are the type of players who happily stay for the major part of their career costing nothing compared to signings like Cabal or Kelly who are gone after one or two years

Turin, 4 February 2025 – Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that an agreement with ACF Fiorentina for the temporary disposal, until 30 June 2025, of the registration rights of the player Nicolò Fagioli has been reached for a consideration of € 2.5 million, payable in two financial years; the agreement envisages ancillary costs of € 0.2 million.
The agreement further envisages:
• the obligation for Fiorentina to definitively acquire the player’s registrations rights, subject to the achievement of certain sporting objective during the season 2024/2025.
• the right for Fiorentina to definitively acquire the player’s registration rights in case these given objectives are not achieved.

In both cases, the agreed consideration for the definitive acquisition is € 13.5 million, payable in three financial years, which may be increased up to a maximum of € 2.5 million over the duration of the player's contract, upon the achievement of further performance objectives.

I’ve lost all hope for him turning into anything great here since a while ago already, so was expecting it to lead towards an exit sooner or later, but can’t help but feel we are helping out a direct rival with a bargain type of transfer on a player who you just know can thrive in the right circumstances and will be extra motivated to prove himself, which in truth he hasn’t received too many chances with us this season due to various reasons, some valid while others less so.

Well, according to this, he as most Italians, preffered to stay in Italy and actually refused transfer to France:

Another case of ‘hands were tied’ and ‘player’s will’…

Wouldn’t surprise me if Marseille were also making us a better offer overall, but i guess it is what it is now.

I'll be very surprised if Palladino revives Fagioli's career. Fagioli like Miretti is too soft.
At least Miretti is two and a half years younger, there’s still time for him to man up and add strength to his game, whereas on the other hand Fagioli still looks and plays like a 21yo despite turning 24yo next week and having gone through a lot of off field issues.

Either way, Fagioli is a confidence player, if Palladino and Fiorentina trust him and use him regularly he will be a good transfer for them, this without implying that he will ever go to a bigger club again or that we’ll regret it.

Nicolo, you’re leaving Juventus after so many years. How do you feel about it?
I feel very sad because, after all, it’s been 10–11 years that I’ve been here. I’ve developed a strong bond with this club, with my teammates, with the Juve family, and with the fans. But now I’m focused and happy about this new experience.

It seems like it’s been a really long day. At one point, Marseille was in the mix, but you chose to stay in Serie A. Tell me about all the emotions you’ve experienced today.
Yes, it was an endless day because everything was decided in the last ten minutes of the evening. I’m very grateful to Marseille because they believed in me from the beginning of the transfer market. However, I decided to join Fiorentina. I spoke with coach Palladino and the club, and I’m very happy with this decision.

A message for Juventus fans.
I thank them because they’ve always supported me, even in the tough times. I wish you all the best for the season. Thank you, and good luck to you all.
