He is not a holding midfielder nor a 5. he is an AM who need to play near the enemy area, sadly that position is occupied by Koopmainers now. Allegri drained all his flair and fancy from his first 2 season and turned him into an introverted ball passer.

He got pjaniced

This is Roma's best opportunity imo, Pellegrini is very good at finishing from that range.

My question is did Fagioli make a wrong decision here by not keep marking Pellegrini but pressing Cristante instead?

Nope, he did the right thing.
The defence is crashed and in an ideal situation Gatti should have come and mark Pelegrini in that area , but he is faulty assisting Bremer in marking dobvik.
A world class defender would have let Dobvik stray into an offside position while picking up the immediate danger in Pelegrini while attempting to close the passing lane.

To me it looks like Savona sensed the danger but was the one late in covering behind Fagioli there, that aside from one of the CB’s(Gatti in this case) also needing to probably step up there.

Looked like a move that Roma worked on though, luckily Bremer held his ground well and blocked the shot.

Yeah , you are right.
I zoomed the image and it appears that's savona then it's his fault for failing to pick Pelegrini up , as that is his area.
I thought that was cambiasso which would have been really odd to see him there.
You can also put it to miss communication between fagioli and savona , but fagioli does the right thing in that play.

Bad, should've picked out Cambiaso's run

Awful, almost cost us the game

Pretty much summed up his day. He had a couple of nice plays and some terrible ones.

He's got the excuse of not playing for a year, which I hope is the reason and it is not unexpected to be inconsistent. He seems like he is struggling to read the speed of the game. But there's a limit on how long you can use that argument.
