1 assist
62/63 accurate passes (98%)
4 key passes
2/2 long balls
1 big chance created
1 shot on target
4/6 dribble attempts
7/11 duels
3 clearances
1 interception
2 tackles
The passing was crazy tonight. He found the space forward, often receiving the ball under pressure, and passed to players that were making runs, and still got all of them on target. A lot of times he chose the non-obvious option which really helped create time and space for the team to adjust in RBL's half.

Did well tonight, started off a bit sluggish but his level improved as the game went on, probably one of his best performances since returning from his suspension, will sure be an important rotational piece this season.

People underestimate how good his touch, passing and vision are

Nicolò #Fagioli to 'Prime Video':

A GAME OF HEART
l"That's correct. We had a great first half, too bad we conceded a great goal on a counter. In the second half, we tied 1-1, then these 5 minutes killed us mentally. Thanks to Dusan for keeping us alive, and then to Conceição"
BEST GAME AT JUVE
"This is just the beginning, I had a difficult time because of me. I'm learning a lot and I'm giving everything for this shirt"

The issues I have with him are that:
  • He takes too long to release the ball thereby missing some crucial runs.
  • Makes some terrible risky crosses knowing damn will an interception will create a goal scoring chance for the opponent.
  • Too physically weak! He had like 7 months to strength train! What was he doing?
I guess we are stuck with him & Loca so I better get used to a slow midfield.
Don't even mention FatAss Luiz!

those are complete midfielder numbers, regardless of the assist (which was 90% chico anyway). extremely accurate passing, he finally did on the big stage what he was capable of in serie b (created the highest number of chances in the league during his last season before his return), and he put up a shift defensively too. engaging into 11 duels is a lot actually, and winning ~60% of duels can be considered very good too

way to go. tonight's fagioli is clearly an asset

One of his best performances ever taking in account the dire situation we were and the stage

1) Concur on the first note, but it looks like Motta is dealing with it because he has increased his tempo in each game. I would also add that he has moved in shadows before where he never really was an option to pass to, just an alibi. He moves around a lot more now and is also helped by other shifting spots to make room for him. So it is not only his improvement but ideas implemented by Motta.
2) It wasn't only him. We still look a bit unbalanced occasionally with huge spaces to exploit on counters. Really surprising have good our defense have been. I want us to press the way we do but we can't leave that much free space in the middle of the pitch. We also need to stick tighter in our markings and some players need to work on their aggressiveness and not just run towards opponent. They actually need to try to get the ball too.
3) He was out-muscled some times and will probably never be a strongman. So he will have to learn from Pirlo, Xavi, Iniesta, Fernandes, and so on. Not really sure what he spent his time doing though. Playing tic-tac-toe with an imaginary friend I suppose.

He is taking huge steps forward and developing his self-belief will release him even further. He will never be a Pirlo but I think he can advance his passing range a lot more and I believe that increased confidence will propel his passing range.

Good that he had something of a breakthrough game, now we need to see what he can do regularly in Serie A in a different style of football, especially against low block teams.

Looking to your first point, the draws we had this season were due to the lack of patience, I want to mention the moment where Koopmeiners hit the post. Fagioli took his time on the ball prior to passing to McKennie.

In general Fagioli is one of our few players who’s able to play fast one touch football, always pacing the game up really isn’t to the benefit of the team. I think that the interpretation of his role was great yesterday.

There was a moment where he should've just made a simple clearance instead the ball got stuck between his feet resulting in getting dispossessed in a very dangerous position

Had Allegro seen that, he would've banished Beans to the Primavera

Your boy was really brilliant last night, agree that the role he was given last night was exactly correct
