We live in a fallen world. We chose to turn away....which was our free will. If He comes in and fixes every problem, we will no longer have either free will (ie if it was 100% apparent to everyone of God's existance, we wouldn't be having this discussion), or Faith (belief in a thing not seen) for that matter.

Think of it this way: do you trust your grown child to make her own decisions, or do you step in and make all her decisions for her? Those are the two options, basically. In option 2, you have made your child a robot essentially; in option 1, you certainly risk your child being hurt, but growing in the process. Most parents would choose 1. So did He.
Though its amazing in this world how many do pick option 2
