They are essentially jus 2 rich americans who came to italy, threw milions and milions of dollars at the ground and now churn out ridiculous amounts of questionable quality wines at the expense of many traditional producers who stood before them...

But they also do small production wines that are quite excellent ... their Poggi lines, etc.

Take a look at Francis Ford Coppola or even Mondavi. They make crap wine in the U.S. for the masses. The kind who would buy a wine called "Turning Stomach" because it's advertised in the back of American Mouthbreather magazine with a photo that suggests the hot-but-wholesome girl they wanted to nail in college but who knew better than to ever talk to them.

Coppola and Mondavi have low-case-production wines that can be quite excellent on the high end. Same with Banfi.
