P.S. I have been to quite a few CL matches in the past (my first final though) and as a result seen/met many opposing fans. The Liverpool fans were by far the classiest and most well behaved of ANY fans. At the end of the match they rose and gave Milan a large round of applause as well as gave our CURVA a giant round of applause.....
after the match I 'rubbed elbows' with a few of them who admitted that they had a giant horseshoe up their arse because they thought Milan was going to close it in extratime. In the most 'touching' moment as a fan: A Pool fan asked me to 'exchange' jerseys and we did: I took his Gerrard jersey and he got my Gattuso jersey.
A cool trend other fans should start..

I have seen polls on other sites asking if this was worse than the Deportivo loss...how can one even compare...
With Deportivo at the Riazor it was a question of sleeping a WHOLE game and it was the quarter finals...
With this it was 45 minutes FROM the 7th CL Title....Simply Devastating....
And to make matters worse I feel the need to re-watch it over and over again .... :stress:
Despite Liverpool's class in its fans and captain I think Traoré is scum bag for his accusations....he claims that Milan was celebrating in the locker room at half time and they (Liverpool) could hear it..this motivated them.
Coach Benitez said that HE was the last to arrive in the dressing room and first to leave and did hear a whisper from the Milan dressing room..he also stated that the entire INTERMISSION was spent listening to his instructions and the room was extremely quiet.
I also didn't like Shevchenko's comments after the game: despite popular belief I am not one of those who thinks my "KINGS" can do no wrong. Sheva basically refused to acknowledge that he failed to CLOSE the game stating that he last minute double-shot would have gone in 10 out of 11 times...he also stated that with his Penalty Kick he did no wrong but it was 'not meant to be'.
BOLLOCKS...he kicked the ball directly at the keeper which I always think is the worse possible strategy.
I have seen this in him more than once: refusal to accept any sort of blame.

I can't find the final stats but I don't believe them..
the half time stats was so one sided in Milan's favor that it is hard to believe that those 10 minutes of Liverpool domination created those stats....

Go look at opta... the stats are spot on and check uefa.com for the full stats inc extra time... which still only knock posession up to 55 / 45 and the shots on target to 10 / 7 with shots off target at 8 / 7

Plus how many games that goto pens have you seen where one team hasnt played for pens... nye on allways one team does... often both.

These stats are sometimes misleading Paul. I mean passing the ball around the back does not constitute dominating a match. But when you watch the match you can usually see who is dominating and getting the better run of play. In the first half Milan pretty much controlled the entire run of play, scoring three goals with many other chances while Liverpool only had a couple shots. That was certainly domination by Milan. Then in the second 45 Milan and Pool were pretty much equal until the 55th minute in which then the latter started to come to life. A few minutes after the penalty things started to slow down for Liverpool once again and Milan were pressing forward much more than before. Extratime was pretty much all Milan as Pool were seemingly playing for penalties. Perhaps the word 'dominated' is a bit much for explaining this, and maybe 'had the better run of play for 75%' would explain it better. But Milan certainly dominated the first 45, while you can't say Liverpool dominated the second half. Big difference there.
