This just in Sergio. The final NHL arbitration hearing deadline has been extended to January 21. Supposedly the players are going to agree to the owner's demands. There might be a hockey season after all!!!!!

Damn this better be true.

Yeah but still, what's the use of a hockey season that's 4 months long.

Then again, a little hockey is better then none, right?

What about the team that wins the Stanley Cup in a shortened season? There will always be that aterisk beside them in books and such.

Andy, you're not alone. Hockey on Saturday nights is a tradition, it's like an instant holiday. Everyone chills and watches the game. Oh how I miss that.

Everytime I look in my closet, I see my Leaf jerseys, and it makes me want to cry. :(

I actually have a number of Canadian friends who can't stand hockey. It's probably the saturation and expectation.

And yet they're huge fans of curling -- "a real Canadian sport." ;)

(Maybe Don Bes can comment here...)

If only I could make inhuman noises like the curlers on the Canadian women's Olympic team ... I'd be so much more popular at my boss' meetings.

:D Hehe. Don Bes always complains about curling being on instead of soccer right? It's so true.

Have any of you actually been curling? It's soooo much fun.

What if there is no hockey this year? Some classic players may retire, like Messier, Francis, Chelios, etc...
There will be so many greats that will retire after this year:

Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull, Ron Francis, Chris Chelios, Mark Messier, Luc Robitaille, and maybe even the great Ty Domi.

Tie Domi won't retire yet. He has a few more seasons in him. As for Yzerman, he may have another season left as well, and truly I hope he does. He's the best player in the league right now, and it would be great to see him play again.

Yzerman is hanging on a lifeline with his knees; they can only take so much more abuse. I really thought this season would be his last.

What a great Captain. :touched:

Steve Yzerman is the best player in the league right now??? :dielaugh: He's not even the best player on his team, let alone the best player in the league.

The best player on the Wings is Nicklas Lidstrom.

Oh yeah, the Wings better win it in this (Asterisk) season, because with half the team over the age of 35, they are going to go from first to worst in a matter of a couple of years.

Welcome to the new NHL and its salary cap.

And Tie Domi is a joke, but then again so are the Maple Leafs, so its par for the course. 1967 anyone?? Also, home of the absolute worst chicken-shit cheap artist in the last 5 years, Darcy Tucker.
