    Multi-culturalism is a myth.
    No sale.
    See Canada
Whistler B.C. to Peggy’s Cove the nation is made up of individuals from just about everywhere and unlike other nations diversity is admired and over assimilation (perhaps to an extreme). The Little Italy’s of Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto are the only ones in North America you can hear Italians speaking Italian and be served pizza minus bacon and pineapple. The U.S. and parts of Europe (England and France) have recent immigrants as well but are ‘cast away’ in their own little ‘areas’ shunned from most for a good two-three generations before getting anywhere. It is fairly common in Canada to hear an individual with an accent serving you in more than just fast food joints but in government offices.

    Really? That's interesting... I didn't know that.

Well I have a workplacement for my studies coming up (six months) starting january 2006. Maybe I should sign up for Canada and write my final paper on this phenomenon. Could be an A-grader.

Multi-culturalism is a myth. The United Nations once awarded Holland a price (late 1990s this was I think) for successfully having founded a multi-cultural society while in essence, this is just a society with different groups living seperate lives without mutual understanding or respect.

Then in November last year a filmmaker was murdered by a radical muslim for making a critical movie on islam and these different groups erupted in fury: churches, mosques, synagoges and even schools were bombed. People got shot in the street and there was no discussion to be found ANYWHERE.

Multiculturalism, which is in essence nothing more than polarisation, is a curse and should be avoided at all times. Assymilation is the way to go.

Regarding America - It's very easy to focus on the negative points of any person or any nation. But when you think it through; if America were to fall (which will happen one day; god knows if Rome could fall so too will Washington), the successor to their throne would be either China (90% likeliness) or Russia (7% likeliness). I don't know about you but if I had to pick between those three; I'd choose America any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Maybe we ought to remember that more often...
I certainly hope that I don't live to see China become a dominant super-power. In fact, I have the suspicion that super-powers are a thing of the past. It's a great misconception that China is on the verge of becoming a powerhouse nation, when in fact, that couldn't be farther from the truth. They don't have the infastructure to support economic and technological dominance the way that the US has. I think that in the event of a US collapse, there would not necessarily have to be another nation to step into the breach. If there were, my money would be on a truly united Europe, but that all depends on whether or not that ever happens.

Technologically somehow and they just have another mentality than the one we have in the third world
I think that it's a myth that America is more technologically advanced than anyone else. Most countries in Europe have similar level of technology, but it is not as apparent because of the relative lack of affluence.

As for the mentality, yeah it's different, but I wouldn't call it more advanced. I've spent enough time in America to understand that their mentallity is spurred by greed and envy. The American dream is to be someone else, not who you are, and that's bit immature if you ask me...

    Dear Nick,

If/when you become a mod, will you ban all political talk from NATW and limit its scope to more appropriate topics such as Guidoness, gobbitude or shoesturbation?
    yes I concur dottore...

On that point, I would also keep out the following types and conversations from Nick Against the World:

    - Goodie too shoes who feel the need to tell us the morale wrong of our posts and what needs to be improved so as to make us a better person.

    - the word "wank".

    - Gobbi's who think "Platini" is a new trendy drink in night clubs.

    - Milanista's who think Rivera refers to a hotel in Vegas.

    - Fat Chicks

and I would put a quota on the number of chicks from England who can post on this thread...:lazy:

oh yeah...I would also trademark the term "Jog on" and "Sell that sh*t to the tourists"
