I love Gennaro Gattuso. I Still don't understand why he and pirlo are NOT in the Starting 11 for the Azzuri. They are a far more skilled and cohesive midfield pairing than Perotta and Zanetti could ever hope to be.

I never rated Gattuso as a player before this season. I watched a lot of Milan matches this season and still see that he is not gifted by God like many of the Serie A greats, but he does his role very well. During Sundays match I saw a man possessed. A wild animal that was the heart and soul of Milan, urging his team forward all the time and keeping them up on an emotional level. I thought "This is what Juve needs" and "Davids used to fill a similar role". Now I understand Gattuso, and I love him as a player.

This is exactly what I had wanted to say, except it would have contradicted my absurd statement of a few months ago claiming that Juve didn't need Edgar Davids.

I think he is in the starting 11, or at least was in the World Cup, because he's in my Italy Korea/Japan poster as one of the starting 11.

I always knew that Davids leaving was going to be felt at Juve in a hard way. It is impressive how he has helped Barcelona's defence and team, and how he helped us.

I dont like Gattuso as a player, in fact, I used to call him a wannabe Edgar Davids, but I do like that he's very respectful, and I agree that he really put his heart and soul when he plays.

As far as I know, the 2 DM in Trap's 4-2-3-1 system are Zanetti and Perotta.
I know that he experimented with a 4-3-1-2 during the qualifiers of Euro 2004, but he's more keen to a single striker approach.

Then again, he is a buffoon.

That makes no sense...and many people seem to think that. The only thing they share is the "hunger"...Davids is much more of a naturally gifted player and in that area is in a whole different level. Its like saying Inzaghi is a wannabe Shevchenko...Good Luck!
What Gattuso lacks in talent he makes up for in stamina, heart and CHARACTER. Despite popular belief he is actually not a butcher on the field.
Juve saw in Gattuso what Milan did long ago...they made a pitch for him or Ambro in their first season at Milan.

Weird how it makes no sense, but many people think that.

Anyways what I meant by calling him a wannabe Davids is that he's very aggresive and they really have that hunger. Im not talking about techincal or tactical stuff. I barely watched Milan play this season, so what can I say.

Sergio: Maybe he'll be in the starting 11 in the Eurocup... we'll just have to wait and see.

No its not weird...it makes no sense because Gattuso realized from day one he is not as naturally gifted as Davids. Because both of them are constantly in movement he is a wanna be Davids? Davids role was MUCH more supportive to the offense and teams relied on his dribbling and ability to start the play. Gattuso breaks things down.

So basically two players that share the same characteristics are wanna be's??
Nesta in his first years was a wanna be Maldini because of class as a defender?
Maldini was a wanna be Baresi?
Baresi was a wanna be Scirea?
Kaka is a wanna be Bebeto?
Miccoli is a wanna be Zola?
