I was joking by the way.
Oh I know you were joking. Its just that a passport is actually on my to-do list but Ive been a losel about getting one.

PS. Anyone who wants to by space in my sig for advertising the selling of his or her self may do so for $3 a month.

Nick is not common because he can speak two languages.
Burke is common and knows it because his dad is his brother.
Enron is common but not as common as Burke.
Andy is common because he doesn't have a passport. He pretends he isn't common by posting long winded posts on cultured subjects.
Vinman was common until he became a lawman and is now slightly above common.
Pado was common until I taught him how to be middle classed by taking loads of coke and shagging tons of prostitutes. Then he became a lawyer, so now he's right up with the best of them.
By that standard, I should be with Pado because my dad is a lawyer and if he is my brother then what? Good job, cockface.

I actually will take you up on that because you live right next to me and I can pay you.

I'll figure what to write in it once you have accepted my bid.

I wouldn't say having visited a few different nations is a prerequisite for being cultured, especially if you speak the same language as the other country in question. If you're really interested, you can receive a good deal of information simply by reading and watching various programs from other cultures if you know the language.

We might be common in other countries, but none of us are common in THIS COUNTRY, that's for sure.

I don't know if I agree with that.

That's like saying if you read about prison, and watch TV programs about prison that you know what it's like to be in prison....if you speak the same language as said prison.

What's the definition of cultured? The main facet of it is educated, sometimes even under artificial conditions.

Artificial education? Who are you? Bush?

The point is, you can learn about Asian culture and history and study it all you want, but it's totally different if you live in Hong Kong for a year or go to Japan for a month, that's just fact.

One experiences culture by living or gaining experience in.

It's true that you receive a greater experiance by living within the culture you're studying. That's obvious. But what I'm saying is it's not a prerequisite to being cultured.

If you disagree with that, then it must be your opinion that the great historians and ancient civilization experts are not cultured in their own field because they didn't live within the Roman or Carthaginian Empires. I mean, come on here.

No, they aren't. That is the difference between intelligence and culture.

And I'm not saying it's a prerequisite, I'm saying it's better to live or travel around the world rather than Abe Lincoln it and read about the world in a cabin. Because no matter how much you read or study, the books go out of date the day they roll off the press. The world and cultures are living breathing things, you have to live in the moment, not study the past in order to be or become cultured.

I'm not saying one is NOT cultured by education, I'm saying those who tend to be truly cultured live in their, not their, or multiple culture(s).

I Beg to differ. You just posted the definition of cultured, which in reality is all about education. Nowhere does it state that you must be an accepted part a certain culture to be cultured in it. I wouldn't even call some Americans cultured in the United States, yet they live here.

Obviously that is the case, and I'm not disagreeing with you there. But there are some exceptions. I'm sure there is someone out there who has never travelled to North America, but knows more about the culture, history, achievements and so forth of the region than 99% of those that live here. Such a person is cultured by definition.

That was my only point.
