And I'll tell you why:
1) Grygera and Salihamidzic were free transfers that were easy to accomplish. Nobody else was interested in Hasan and we struck a deal with him a long time ago. Pavel Nedved alerted the management to Grygera even when Moggi was here, and I'm sure our Czech ace had more influence on the deal than anybody else. Conclusion - easy signings.
2) Tiago set his sights on Italy, with Milan and Juve leading the chase for him. The player wanted to leave chelsea because he did not want to sit on the bench with the arrival of Essien, so Chelsea couldn't keep hold of him. Tiago is an intelligent person and a classy professional, and it was obvious he would be sitting on the bench at Milan. That's partly why he chose Juventus... because he knew he would play a major role in our side. Conclusion - Tiago wanted to join Juventus all along and the only obstacle was finding a deal with Aulas, the latter knowing he would lose the player eventually.
3) Almiron has been our target for a while and we were always the club most interested in him. Milan wanted players such as Emerson and Ronaldinho while stupid Inter was being stupid Inter again. Conclusion - we were always going to sign Almiron, and the only thing we needed to do was conclude a deal with Empoli.
4) Trezeguet was first insulted with the board's contract offer, but after some advice from somebody (Ranieri?) the board gave David a contract that was much more respectful. All they did was increase the amount of the contract offer. Conclusion - Trezeguet loves Juventus and stayed on because the new contract offer was suitable.
Now we have to wait to on finding a deal for Milito which has apparently gone down the drain. The player reportedly was holding out for Juve but Secco has been having trouble nailing out a deal. Now Real is on his tail, so perhaps we weren't quick enough. These sort of dealings are the REAL tests that Secco and the board has to face... not easy freebies or signings of players that always preferred Juve. Now throw in a heavy hitter such as Real interrupting our transfer plans, and then we'll really be able to judge the people in power. I still don't have much faith.
And no, Sergio, Ranieri is not necessarily a better manager than Deschamps. You don't know for sure, I don't know for sure, because our board did not give him a chance. We shall see how adept Ranieri will be with Juventus and I'll give him a chance. But as far as the board goes, I'm going to be much more critical. And rightfully so.
