Yeah, that's a regret I have about juventuz, one of few. That I think 3 times in total the whole content was lost, we made everyone re-register and the forum started anew. It was always because of technical issues, which today I would have fixed easily, but back then I didn't know how. So all that stuff pre-2002 or something is gone. Not that the mentioned flamewar was pleasant reading mind you. :p

The forum in the first 6 months ran on Ikonboard, which turned out to be crap.
Oh the notorious 2002 crash, heard so much about it

Right, soccerage. but they had the site in several languages, the Italian was called rete.it I believe. It used to be a good source of news.

They still have a forum there or did they get rid of it?
Goal.com forums collapsed?
We used to post in the English forums of Goal.com, and it was really great because the forum was not moderated at all, so you could have posted whatever you wanted, but having many spammers and some guys like Sutnop who didn't post in Juventus threads more than his poems in Roma threads, forced the administration of that site to make the forums moderated, but they failed so much, not because people wanted freedom of speech, but because the forums became so slow, and the fun of having many different threads that had nothing to do with each other was gone with the wind...Juve fans who were more than 20 regular members left together at this point as a protesting sign, and went to another forum, and later most of us are here...

 Don't bring up such painful memories, Martin. I loved rete.it and found it immensely useful. Goal.com is a sham shadow of rete.it's former glory.

More glossy photos, far less useful info.
Yes, of course. rete.it was stacked vertically with content. Player profiles, histories, tables, everything. Goal.com is trash, always was. Well it's redeemed itself a bit in getting rid of the godawful design, but it's still weak on content.

I wish there was an all-around website like that. I don't know rete.it but it sounds interesting. Intensive coverage of say the top 8 European countries plus Brazil and Argentina, with profiles of players, historical stats and matches (I am addicted to those), stats of players...etc :(
