What is with you lot anyway... how many times do I have to explain that I have personally spoken with Vinni, Nick, Pado, Greg, Sergio among others on the phone or through the use of Skype. Now through such verbal discussions, the ability to get to know someone a little better arises as one does not have to rely on their fingers to communicate anymore. This "social bridging of the gap" allows people to know each other better and become closer, which is what has happened around here.

So no, Andries, it's not just because we're American. The reason why I would defend somebody such as Vinni over someone like you is because I know him much better and can consider him as a friend. It just happens to be a coincidence he's from this country. On the other hand I have spoken with people such as Martin and Fabiana, and to a lesser extent and only on MSN with Rab and a few others, so if you think I'm only going to defend people from the United States I can assure you you're wrong... it has got nothing to do with that. It's really not that difficult, Seven.

And for the record I don't personally respect all cops... certainly not those who patrol nowhereland and only write out speeding tickets. I only respect those who have real policing duties such as Vinni who patrol some of the roughest streets in this country. Don't you dare think for one second that you have a grasp over what a big city police officer has to deal with day to day on the job, as I can assure you it's no easy task. Every single day you hear or read about an officer getting shot in Queens or Dertroit or some other slum around this country... I know that personally I'm not cut out for such a job, and I know for a fact that you certainly are not either. So to sit here and judge the professional attributes of an officer you've never spoken with... who patrols streets that probably make Antwerp look like Candyland... is really just disgusting and imbecilic. As Vinni has probably stated before, you wouldn't last a minute in some of these neighborhoods.

Open your fucking eyes, Andries.
telling it like it is.....

Queens isn't Iraq. I also never debated the job of policemen. As for the highlighted part: get real, Andy. It's a matter of training. People who are fit and can make instant decisions, and there are lots of us, can become a police officer if they want to. I know you're impressed by Vinni, because you're quite easily impressed, but I refuse to look up to him simply because he says I should. He's a retard for crying out loud.

:lol2:

I would absolutely love to see you go through the same training and stand up to the bullets flying your way on the streets of New York. Whether it be Baghdad or Queens, both places have their dangers and I seriously could not see you patrolling the streets of any city with your attitude... you'd be shot the fuck up as soon as a situation arises. That is, considering your big mouth you wield on these forums.

Being easily impressed is different from respecting the state of affairs of other citizens... there is absolutely no point discussing this with you as you're incredibly naive when it comes to the inner cities of this country.

No, I wouldn't. And you know why? Because I would be trained. Don't you think for a minute that soldiers and police officers do jobs that are too difficult for others. Some of them might be brave, but they don't do things that require particular skill. It's just training.

And if your inner cities are so horrible, I wouldn't be so proud of being American in the first place ;).

Again, deal with some of these places before you think mere training can get you through any situation you face... it's really not that easy and that is why cops are murdered every single day.

And as for your latter comment, it's quite better than being known for nothing, if you want to put things into perspective here.

So I suppose it's better to be Hitler than some unknown guy?

Again, Andy, I never said it's easy. Just that it's a matter of training.

Perhaps I was a bit too soon to dismiss Vin's qualities as a cop, but there are a couple of fundamental reasons for that which I would like to explain. I'd also like some of you of guys to realise that I have no dislike for the US as a country whatsoever despite my often harsh criticism. In fact New York is a city that attracts me very much.

But about Vin and his profession:

a) I have often seen Vinman saying it's vital to carry a gun to protect your family. Western Europe proves otherwise. You can all sit there and think it's great you can protect yourself from the Queen of England, but guns are a big part of why your inner cities are so dangerous. Under no circumstances citizens should be allowed to own guns IMO.

b) Vinman's brave. I don't question that. I also don't question whether or not Vinman puts his life on the line every single time he goes out there. Based on what he writes on the forum, and more importantly the manner in which he does so, I wonder about all his anger that he can't express though. You'd have to admit that there's something odd about giving this man power over life and death.

c) There's no reason inner cities should be so dangerous. If London's safe, why couldn't New York be? How willing is the American government to clean that mess up is the only question I have. The general attitude you guys give me is that they always were dangerous and always will be. In that aspect, I have to say that Vinman's about the only guy here that seems to be willing to change that.

Instead of speculating on this, why don't we ask someone who knows. Vin, can anyone be a cop if they just have the training? Or do you need to have some special skills?

I think one would need to have some special skills, but that skill is not limited to a certain few. I mean there are people out there suitable to being cops, as much as doctors, engineers, businessmen...etc.

How you acquire that skill is something else, some might have the skill innate, but it also could be learned. Kinda like the ever popular managerial question "Are leaders made or born?", which I think the answer to that is both, there is no black and white answr. It's just the people who naturally have it will have a headstart, but the end of the day how much effort you put in it will differentiate you from the next guy.

Anyways thats just my 2cents...
