And Coke, in sporting terms, is not a long standing performance enhancer like steroids are, which not only increase strength, but also allow for injuries to heal much faster.
Thing is a six month ban in football is the "usual" punishment. Whether you took coke or steroids, chances are high you'll get a six month ban. The way this entire trial works however is just plain odd. There are a couple of games at discussion and suddenly we get, what is it, -150 or something? I'd find an automatic relegation just, but the way they calculate it in this system is just weird. Milan get -30 and are now all of a sudden given CL football? IIRC they're talking about ONE game in Milan's case. So if you're not going to relegate them, which you obviously should, then how do you end up at -30?

The entire calciopoli trial seems like a cheap vendetta to me. Milan is still in the CL and Inter have been awarded a scudetto Juventus legitemately won. It's odd. And I might act all paranoid, but is it really that unlikely that a football trial in Italy, of all countries, is corrupt?
I don't doubt that anymore. The whole thing is pathetic. The sentences are so light it's not even funny anymore. We're talking corruption and fraud, that is to be punished severely by EU standards. But no, Italy disappoints yet again.

A few years ago a large national company was in the middle of a fraud trial in the Netherlands. The outcome was that the people found guilty were jailed and the top layer of the management (which was infested and rotting to the core) was dismantled: with the regional managements becoming the heads of new regional companies.

That's how corruption ought to be dealth with. Corruption keeps the poor poor and makes the rich just richer. But this is Italy... Moggi will never see the inside of a jail and his suit and tie buddies are probably congratulating him...

Italy's culture of corruption appears to be self-sustaining. It disgusts me to no end.

I think the penalty against us is probably fair. If Moggi ran the whole system, as alleged, then Serie B is the proper punishment, and I can't get too worked up over other clubs getting left off.

What pisses me off is:

1. The 2006 Scudetto was won by Juventus. There exists no evidence of foul play regarding 2005-2006. Our Scudetto was revoked for no reason and handed to a third place team who's season and last 20 years can be summed up by a simple Marco materazzi 50-yard own goal in second half stoppages to lose to Empoli 1-0.

And Inter being the joke that is Inter, actually will celebrate this
.

2. Franco Carrara being let off is the biggest scandal to ever hit Italian football. Lazio's entire involvement in the corruption was directly working deals with Carraro, the president of the FIGC. When the head man in charge is cutting illegal deals, that is pretty much indefensible, but Franco's 4.5 year ban was totally wiped out. He simply received a fine and a warning. CORRUPTION IN ITS PUREST FORM.
If a team is disqualified for cheating and consequently relegated for this act of cheating, then how can they possibly have won the league the next season when they were not eligible to be in it. So the fact that we were stripped of 2005 title automatically disqualifies us from the 2006 season ergo we couldn't have been it to win it

ahte to say it pado but denco is right, by all rights we should ahve been relegated that year, so it goes without saying we cant win a trophy we shouldnt have been competing for.

Well, if you want to pretend that we were busted in 2005 and that we really spent 2005-06 in Serie B, then go ahead. However, there is the small matter that we actually did play 38 Serie A matches and 10 Champions League matches in 2005-06. We only lost one match in Serie A and finished with a record number of points. So, go off to your little fantasy land, and get those English teeth looked at. I thought you didn't post here because of Tribalism and because of the anti-Piss Bag sentiment.

Erik - the criminal investigations are a long, long way from being completed. The trials that just ended were the quick & dirty versions in hopes to get a season started in 2006. Moggi and Giraudo may very well end up in prison. Far too early to say.
