So if my parents are Polish, then I'm Polish. Even if I've never been there, don't speak the language and don't know anything about the country, I'm still Polish. And because I'm Polish, my kids will be too. And their kids. And their kids. And 200 years down the line, everyone's Polish, even though noone has even visited there in 200 years. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. If this were true, there wouldn't be any Americans for starters, everyone would be European or Asian or African or native American or what have you.

Whether you choose to embrace your "new nation" is your own choice. Doesn't mean others can't do what's right for them.

Do u consider urself Norwegian Martin? Lets discuss on pm,i aint gettin neg rep or insults for what i might say:D
Yes, I'm Norwegian. And I'm Polish. And I've been greatly influenced by other cultures as well. It's not an either or choice, it can just as well be inclusive.

I don't mean to butt in on a private conversation here, but take me for example. My parents are Korean, but I was born in Australia and I've lived here my whole life. I have Australian citizenship and an Australian passport... would you think it absurd if (hypothetically speaking) I chose to represent Australia in a sport?

I'd go with European if I were you :D

I agree entirely with Martin on this subject so I'll let him do the talking on my behalf.

One question though, Byrone, a friend of mine has an Italian mother and a Dutch father, she was born and raised in the Netherlands but her parents got an early divorce and she was raised by her Italian mother in Rotterdam as a consequence - what does that make her?
