Nothing like some statistics to bring people back to earth:

World Cup history - Netherlands:
1930 Did not qualify
1934 Second round (eliminated by Switzerland)
1938 Second round (eliminated by Czechoslovakia)
1950 Did not qualify
1954 Did not qualify
1958 Did not qualify
1962 Did not qualify
1966 Did not qualify
1970 Did not qualify
1974 Silver medal (winners: Germany)
1978 Silver medal (winners: Argentina)
1982 Did not qualify
1986 Did not qualify
1990 Second round (eliminated by Germany)
1994 Quarter finals (eliminated by Brazil)
1998 Fourth place (third place: Croatia)
2002 Did not qualify

In other news: Graham Poll is likely to be sent home later today after a dismal display in the Australia game. Or, as Andries would put it: Graham Poll is likely to be sent home later today after failing to obide FIFA orders and make sure Croatia progress.

Nah, I didn't even think Poll was in the conspiracy after his horrible showing in Italy-Croatia four years ago. Perhaps the guy is just into N. Kovac :D?
