Couldnt agree less about paris... An incredibly boring city (especially at night), High mugging rates and incredibly aloof people.Follow that with the stark reality that when drifting off the tourist path its a dirty place with an awful problem with heroin abuse... Not my cup of tea at all

Brescia whilst a lovely place with friendly people is in reality indistinguishable from anyone of 50 odd other italian towns... (echo verona), Give me Genova, Reggio di calabria Palermo, Foggia or como anytime...

Madrid and sevilla are in my view wonderful places, but barcelona is not... 10 years ago one of the greatest cities on earth now a tourist infected shadow of what it once was.

Budapest i'm undecided on.
Padova remains my favorite.

Oh come on. Paris' nightlife might be a bit boring, but that doesn't mean the city as a whole is boring. I quite like strolling around in Paris, even though I'm not as excited about the city as I'm about some other cities.

He is just giving us his opinion. Everybody has their own experiences in these cities.

You know what I love about porn? It's the electrical sockets.

Ooooh, give me a vertical pair of grounded three-prongs behind a off-white face plate, and I just can't wax the dolphin fast enough...

Pado already has the women's shoe thing covered. I just realized I've been conditioned to where I can't walk into Home Depot's electrical department without a woody...

Agree with Paul on Paris...problem of gangs and muggings is unbearable..its getting harder and harder to take a walk without running into a group of punks and changing course. My favorite cities in Italy remain Siena, Pescara, Florenc or Lucca and depending on the time San Remo .... Como was quaint but way too touristy these days esp. with the advent of Clooney in the Lake Area. London has topped my list in the last year :pint:

Over rated: Paris, Milan, Nice, Monte Carlo..better off staying in Ventimiglia.

    oh yeah and Kiev :yuck:

Bah... I haven't been in about 4 years (since right before the last WC, in fact), but I still think Paris is a great city. Sure, it doesn't live up to its fairy tale image as Paul points out, but talk about a hard act for any city to live up to. All cities have their lumps. But I think there's a bit of the Juventuz.com "OVERRATED!!!!" Tourette's going on here too. ("Ronaldinho? I saw that guy lose the ball in midfield once, the choker. OVERRATED!!!")

But I will agree with Nick on Milan, Nice, and Monte Carlo ... all generally worth passing by. There are some hilltowns outside of Nice I'd still like to check out though.

I'll have to check out Pescara one of these days myself. I like Siena and Lucca. But as for Florence, if not for all the redeeming history there, I only felt hunted by foreign tourists when I was last there a couple years back (though only my 2nd time there). I've had better meals and met cooler locals in most other parts of Italy. So add Florence to my overrated list.
