With regard to American television, Fox Soccer Channel devotes hours of air time to broadcasting classic Milan matches, current Milan matches from Europe, and also specific Milan programmes from the Milan Channel every single week. Even Manchester United does not get as much air time here in the States, and that's rather strange considering Manure fans probably out number those of the Rossoneri two to one. Fox always makes a point in their commercials that Milan is the "most recognizable team in Italy" and I even recall them stating they are the best club in Italy, so take that as you will. American football television is laced in red and black.
As for the other clubs, there is no question Manure has the most fans in the US, and I would have to say Real Madrid is easily second. Barcelona fans are on the rise obviously and so are the Liverpool and Chelsea supporters, which is indeed sad to see. I don't see many Juventus or Inter fans, however I have seen quite a few people wearing Roma jerseys for some odd reason. If I were to ask them who exactly Bruno Conti was I doubt 75% of them could give me an honest answer. But that's sometimes the norm with some American soccer fans who "like" foreign clubs...while people such as Burke, Enron, and myself are hard to come by. Juventus does not get much publicity from what I have seen compared to a bunch of other top clubs, but that is to be expected.

People stare at me like I'm some sort of computer geek with a shirt that states "Fastweb" across the chest or a jacket that contains the words "Nederlands" in big letters with the subsequent flag. Some idiot in my Speech class asked me "what is Nederlands" and proceeded to say he would jack off while looking at the black image of two bodies huddled together on the front and on each sleeve of my jacket. I walk into a local pub during the World Cup and find all 10 televisons tuned to fucking Nascar...now you know what I have to put up with on a daily basis. But hey...sometimes there are benefits to such lunacy. Knowing more about soccer than anybody in your respective county must count for something, doesn't it?

Like I said, this team was labeled DOOMED after the Istanbul fiasco...everyone picked Inter and Juve as Serie's A top and Juve for CL (remember?!)...reaching the semi's and losing on one goal and being second place with an opportunity (albeit slim) to win the Scudetto is something NO ONE would have predicted. More importantly, the team continues to play hard and play an entertaining game dispite a season AFTER Istanbul and a season plagued with injuries and mishaps...
fact of the matter is that Pirlo, Gattuso, Kaka, Gilardino, Shevchenko and Nesta still have very good years left..some have not even come close to reaching their peak...Inzaghi, Rui Costa, Ambrosini (arguably because of injury) are invaluable resources that can start on many teams...
defense is a growing concern but has been for quite a while I see one big signing and another Cafu type signing that will bring much life to the D....
I don't see the end of an era nor do I see a team that is still plagued by Istanbul..the loss to Barca had nothing to do with a lack of confidence or fear of crumbling ...

By the way, I have never been to Buffalo's Little Italy but I only hear good things..
Toronto's is over rated..Everytime I met Torontonians overseas they kept bragging about St. Clair but it was nothing more than an old crusty bakery managed by toothless Filomena and her hairy son Giacomo and an old social club..
Woodbridge is too righteous to have a decent Little Italy...a few bars spread out with 'EH OH' heard from corner to corner...
I have been to the various ones in NY ... Boston...Chicago....San Diego....San Fran....Toronto...Montreal...Ottawa ... Philly .... still have a few left to rate..oh yeah and of course I have LIVED if I haven't visited the Italian area in Raliegh, North Carolina where you can get a good old fashion plate of EYE-Talian pasta with "red" sauce and a nice cappuccino after dinner ...they call it 'the trailer park trash Eye-Talian night out experience" you even get to keep the Menu with a fat chef who has a handlebar moustache saying "MAMMA MIA PIZZERIA" ...

I have been to the various ones in NY ... Boston...Chicago....San Diego....San Fran....Toronto...Montreal...Ottawa ... Philly .... still have a few left to rate..oh yeah and of course I have LIVED if I haven't visited the Italian area in Raliegh, North Carolina where you can get a good old fashion plate of EYE-Talian pasta with "red" sauce and a nice cappuccino after dinner ...they call it 'the trailer park trash Eye-Talian night out experience" you even get to keep the Menu with a fat chef who has a handlebar moustache saying "MAMMA MIA PIZZERIA" ...
Buffalo really doesnt have a "little Italy" per se, Nick
we just have one street (Hertel Avenue) that has many different Italian stores, bakeries , and restaurants (along with the Italian Festival in July). But its still longer than College st in Toronto, thats for sure
