I disagree;

for the first example off the top of my head, take Roberto Baggio. I'm pretty sure he knows he's a great footballer, and he wasn't lacking confidence by any stretch of the imagination, but whenever he scored, I just loved the way he would point out the player who gave him the assist and give them credit, instead of running around pointing to the name on the back of his shirt.

That's the difference between humility/confidence/arrogance. Maybe a bad example, but I hope u understand.

All I meant was that, you may become successful by being an arrogant asshole, but those kind of people are the ones who get their coffee spiked when they leave their desk :)
I understand that, and that is a feeling of gratitude ie thanking the man who gave the assist. Its definetly important to remember how it all happened, and who you have to thank to get up to the point where you are now.

However, If Baggio was to give all the man ALL the credit for the assist IE dont look at me look at him, then i think thats shit. Its just like when for example, an example of the top of my head, when you go to someones house as a guest and they cook a ****ing good meal, you tell them it was great, and they go: 'Oh no, it wasnt.'

Where the hell is the point in that? Why wouldnt you want to feel a bit of happiness knowing you have done something good? Take confidence from the fact that people liked your meal, dont dismiss it.

Ok, i understand the coffee bit now. But if you really want to become successful and aim for the absolute ****ing top, you wont even need to have jealous co-workers because you can be retired by the time you are 35 :D

    I am here....

still enjoying the victory and laughing at Cocu's statement "We played better for 180 minutes..."
Then please explain why they were down 2-0 after the first leg...I love the anti-Milan talk all over again....because of one game they are branded lucky to get into the CL Final. Anyone remember the last time Milan conceded a goal in CL before yesterday? The 2-1 loss to Barca last November/October. Undeserving huh...
FEED THAT SH*T TO THE TOURISTS

Speaking of which I will be in London in a short while...

Anyone have the cogliones to buy me the drink I rightfully deserve...

Actually you probably won't have to...there is an old trick I play in which I get at least one drink for free at restaurants/clubs. Emma, never mind the chicks waiting for Mac....if the 'game' is played right I sometimes have people waiting for an autograph.

I don't really hear people say "Oh no, it wasn't". It's more like, "Thanks, I'm glad you liked it". It's fair enough to acknowledge that you've done a good job, but it becomes arrogance when you get to the "I'M THE MAN! I'M THE MAN!" stage ala Stevie Gerrard.

That's the thing; humility isn't about thinking that nothing you do is any good and beating yourself up all the time; it's about keeping your feet on the ground.

If I went to your house and complimented you on a meal you made me, even if you knew it tasted good you wouldn't say "Yeah, I'm pretty feckin awesome, aren't I?"

Another poor example off the top of my head: When e.g. a tennis player wins a tournament and they give their speech, it's pretty obvious to all that they were the best player on the court, but you hardly hear anyone say "I AM THE GREATEST!" at the top of their voice. Sure, you might put that down to a show of modesty, but I think a lot of people genuinely mean it when they say things like "I couldn't have done it without my coaching staff, manager, fans" etc.

ok i'll stop babbling now

Here is a good example (for once!)

I saw the music awards a little while ago, i think it was snow patrol that were up for best rock group. The lead singer was being interviewed and he was commenting on the awards they were being puting up for:

When he was asked about best rock group, he went: Us? Best rock group? yeah right.

That is what i mean. That kind of attitude i think is stupid.

NO. I don't act like it. When I first moved to Italy I was approached a few times on the street and told "you know who you look like..." etc. First it began as playful.
At one point the length and style of hair was similiar to BoboMan. Not done on purpose. When I was in restaurants big cities in the North like Milan, Torino or Bologna I would get stares...sometimes whispers and on the rare occasion a drink sent to my table.
So...one DRUNK night in Rome when Inter was visiting Roma some friends came up with a little 'skit'. They were the entourage...and presto...even though we had little $$ on us we left the club drunk as skunks all 'on the house'.
We couldn't go back to that place after that...only a matter of time before they catch on.
Anyhow, I don't ACT like Vieri if that is what you are implying but if some 'fan' wants to send me a drink in a club....I won't refuse it ....I'll just tip my glass to him and give him a thumbs up.

P.S. Is this NICK or CHRISTIAN?

No it isn't. They realise they are not the greatest band ever. The cocky attitude doesn't work in Indie music that's been proven.

Countless bands have started to think they are the shit after getting signed to a minor label, acting arrogant, walking off stage, telling fans to fvck off etc. That never works and they always cock up whatever little talent they had and soon they are no more.

SnowPatrol got to where they are by playing gigs for anyone/anywhere whenever they wanted it. They wouldn't have came out of Belfast city with a record contract if they were arrogant.

I get your point but bad example.

Congrats on going through, Nick. But since you're (honestly  ) helpful at pointing out other perspectives to juventini when we have a one-dimensional view that the world is set out against us, I will return the favor here... as I clearly recall Ancelotti pretty much saying they lucked out in the post-match interviews of both games.

Not to say that Milan was undeserving, but, at least IMO, they certainly got more than their fair share of the breaks as opposed to PSV at this CL round.

Call it sacreligious, deny it all you want, and I'm not saying Cocu's 100% correct. But there is a legitimate point there.

Evenso, Milan deserves to be in the final overall given their overall performance this year. But I do think PSV played the better two matches by a slight edge.
