After long and beer-filled debates, my conlcusion is:

EPL is the best league; but Italian football is just better.
I mean, look at the Managers: Wenger, Rafa, Jose, Sir Alex. Not one of them is English. Look at the owners. The Players.
Look at the NT's.

Well, I have this conclusion...

 another CL gone by. I almost blinked and missed it all.

For all the people who whined and complained when the 2004 Final was Mourinho's Porto vs. Deschamps' Monaco and how that "cheapened" the level of competition in the tournament... here we had two also-rans who placed no better than third in their domestic leagues this season and, well, last season as well. One who got a priviledged back door qualification entry this season due to some funny paper filing timings around Chievo and calciopoli. The other who got a priviledged back door qualification entry the prior season for finishing a pathetic fifth in their domestic league, but had enough fans with money and influence to get their whining heard.

On the pitch they played a generally dull match. And in the end, I came away feeling like I just watched the Coppa Italia final.

Is this what the best European football has to offer has come down to? Forget sour grapes in Juve's inability to qualify. The grandeur that this competition should have been practically failed to deliver on every level.

Give me back Mourinho vs. Deschamps anyday...

was anyone else sitting wishing hey had watched a re-run of the UEFA cup final instead, or as that just me?

the great pity is the best game in the competition was manure v milan first leg in the semi's. other than that i cant really pick out many highlights from this season, maybe i am just jaded as there was no Juve but for me this was as poor a Cl campaign in many years.

roll on Platini's change and restrictions of teams entering, this is what this competition really needs

Brilliant. Hands down, I would have enjoyed Espanol-FC Sevilla more, which was not covered by my local ESPN affiliate.

It's a sad state of affairs when the UEFA Cup becomes interesting again... :pint:

Are you angry?

Is that mad I see?
Not really I kind of figured we would lose if we didn't score first. I was mostly disappointed at us not being able to take advantage of a mediocre Milan performance (for the part of the game that I saw). Oh and Andy pissed me off because his hair is like gayman and his words are like the Mississippi.

Who would you have rather seen in the final? Madrid v. Chelsea? I do understand that it was a boring game, hell I was half asleep when Milan got the second. I don't see how the inability of the other bigger more exciting teams to play well in big games is the fault of Liverpool or Milan. Maybe next year the game will be better, maybe not. But thats the beauty of the Champions League, you have to show up every game or you go home. Not every final can be a SuperClassico sometimes you get the occasional stinker.

Alright Im off to mow the lawn and laugh when the high school kids driving down the street yell ariba because I look soooo Mexican.
