It is the first time in history swimming finals in major international tournaments are not held in the evenings of the host location's timezone. Swimming organisations and fans all over the world have protested, saying finals in the early morning after heats late at night followed by obligatory drug tests will have a negative effect on the achievements of the swimmers, to the disadvantage of the sport.
