if we're relegated, there's no bright side, thats what :D
But the biggest failure would be in taking a situation you cannot change and not trying to find a way to milk it for potential advantages. Change can be very, very bad. But change always offers an opportunity to fix things too.

I would also take out van Persie and place van der Vaart in a free role up top with Robben and van Nistelrooy. Rafi would slide in behind Ruud and float towards the wings while Robben would make his usual darting runs through opposition defenses. I would stick with the same midfield as van Basten used today, however; it looked pretty damn good.
That front line should be pretty sick then with the midfield they had today. If nothing else, the Netherlands will play very entertaining football with that lineup. While I thought their finishing needed some improvement, as usual, this NT's success will come down to how their back line can hold up to pressure.

We discovered our golden total football playing 4-3-3 and 4-3-3 is what we will continue to play. It should be in our national anthem.

No 4-3-3 to Dutch people implies having far stretched wings. That ain't it ^

Exactly. Hopefully our directors share the same attitude and not that of other supporters.

I think that moment in the first half when Kezman and Milosevic tripped over each other, allowing Van der Sar to grab the ball was very telling. The defence will have to significantly improve if they are going to hold back the Ivory Coast. At least Ooijer looks solid and experienced enough to keep Mathijsen under his rule and form a reasonable central duo.

The midfield was good, the front three slightly disappointing. Robben was stunning but Van Nistelrooy was a ghost. Van Persie should've done a tad more I think.

Thanks for the congrats and you good luck for tomorrow. I'm looking forward to that game!
The Ivory Coast will pose much more danger than Serbia, that's for sure. Even Drogba will be a handfull as he always finds a way to impose himself for his country, unlike his club form at Chelsea. I also expect Michel to field Kone instead of Kalou which will yet again be a problem for the Dutch because that guy looks pretty damn good. Not mention the Elephants are much more adept at attacking down the flanks than Serbia, and I can see your boys being exposed there... as opposed to centrally where you looked solid today.

I'm looking forward to our match as well, however there is still that cloud of worry hovering over my head. I know we can beat the Czechs because we can beat anyone on our day...it just depends if our day will be tomorrow, which I'm starting to doubt as we head closer to the match.

We discovered our golden total football playing 4-3-3 and 4-3-3 is what we will continue to play. It should be in our national anthem.
I absolutely adore the 4-3-3. In my version I would deploy a striker like Trezeguet up top, a winger like Robben to drift to the flanks and burst through defenses, and a player such as Aimar who could drop deeper and pick up the ball or shift outside to a flank. Three attackers with the freedom to play. In my opinion there is not a more exciting system than the 4-3-3...absolutely delicious.

I just came back from Toronto a few hours ago, and I couldnt believe the amount of flags I saw on the cars up there...

Italy, Poland, Tunisia, Portugal, etc....

not one car where I live have any flags on it for the tournament...not even the US flag

just shows how much soccer isnt very popular here.....

Yeah, it's not very popular here. Soccer is only the most played youth sport in the nation.

It was same during the Euro '04. Toronto was flooded with flags.

lol, I was driving to blockbuster with my little brother just a little while ago, and I had him hold a flag out the window, turned so many heads :D

Well, I always knew some of our compatriots were ridiculously stupid. However, I didn't think they were that dumb. :D

I'm going to Bushwallers tomorrow for USA game. The pub will be packed and supposedly a bunch of my fellow teamates from our State Championship winning high school will be there. I sincerely hope it's a good time, and that will only be the case if we beat the Czechs. Hopefully some of my non-USA supporting compatriots will be pulling for us tomorrow..

comments on Zlatan against Trinidad??

England-Paraguay scoreline didn't really reflect what happened on the field IMO...England mid field owned Paraguay for the most part..Gerrard, Lampard are going to punish this tournament...ref was a joke.

That said, FORZA AZZURRI :pint:
Sure, Ibra was shit but he's been shit all season. It would have pissed me off if he suddenly was on song and hit the back of the net.

England owned something? Hahaha. What match were you watching. The final 70 minutes did not even resemble cohesive football. England was terrible, but they did not disgrace themselves. No, Sweden and Portuagal have disgraced themselves, but since Paraguay is a half-decent opponent, I'll England the benefit.

England indeed did not own anything during that match, however you have to say their defense was very sound. I do not recall Robinson making one decent save the entire match and it was simply a very sloppy game. Even though this is the case and the match was hardly suited for good play, people still start pissing on Paraguay and stating they don't deserve their spot in the World Cup. I hope they tear apart Sweden, reach the round of 16, and shut these South American haters up.

Yeah, so it makes me wonder, is Nick just trying to kiss Paul's ass by swooning over England? There is just no way to put a positive spin on that performance, even if it was a fantastic result for England. Look, they got 3 points and the other match was drawn, and they did not have to risk Rooney in the process. A perfect result, but the performance was shit. That's all he needed to say.

Andy, best thing about World Cup here in America - You can get to the bar 15 minutes before kickoff and still get a great seat!
