They would have thrashed Belgium but were forced to play in 10 men for the entire match.
Hey Pado I was going to have you wake up with a smile when you arrived to the office this morning but I couldn't get Balky to call you ... granted he is a few thousand miles away but I was hoping he could leave you a telephone card-o-gram of sorts :D

And why exactly are we cheating ****s?

Your fault for not scoring from the few chances you had. You were lucky we didnt score a second goal in the end.

Fuck off? WE were lucky? We were better than Spain at hom but onyl managed 1-1, we were better than Serbia at home, but they managed to draw due to a fdw stunning saves from their keeper, we were better than Lithuania at home yet you managed to score. We were up 1-0 against Spain until the 97th minute, and we got two players sent off.

And you call us lucky? :howler:

We'll beat San Marino and there's no way you can overtake us. Go and donate some money to build a decent stadium.

P.S. And what would have you dont if there wasnt so much police big guy? Probably get your ass kicked all the way to your fishing boat.

cant be bothered to reply to all of it now but **** me, better then us in bosnia? thats rubbish, you got 4 points from us and thats 4 more than you deserved. we outplayed you both in sarajeve and bosnia.

and stadium will be built in few years time.

    and bosnians dive too much.

Couldn't they use the mailman/coin salesman/tour guide/deputy mayor as the extra man..poor guy does practically everything else.
Hey you racist bastard pig, assuming that mighty San Marino could only find 10 guys who play the sport. NO, the mailman was not needed, as there was a red card issued to the Bank Teller early in the First Half.

I was at that game..I remember it well...I was sitting third row behind the corner ... second half Pagliuca was leading us into cheer ....

I attended every Italy game that year except the First versus Ireland and the Final against Brazil.

Thats so unreal for someone like me. To actually be there watching Italy play in a world cup. That game against Ireland gave me the jitters though. When Ray Houghton scored that howler and Pagliuca was in two minds whether to tap it or let it go. Of course, later that week Baggio and gang had my parity restored.

Don't get your panties in a twist Andy and Claire. England, France and Spain will all qualify. With the present format, you would have to be retarded or Romania to miss out. Romania got fvcked with a difficult group and look to be the odd-team-out when they probably deserve to qualify, and would if they were in another group.

Now thats very silly. Brazil and Italy missing would be wrong. But France, England and Spain missing wouldn't?
Something you hold onto a little too tight. Because these countries havent won as many times dosent mean they havent given as much to the tournament.
I don't find it silly at all Blandest...Brazil is the best country to ever play the sport and three-time World Cup winners Italy have made the Finals within the last 11 years in two respective big tournaments. As Nick stated England did not qualify for 1994 and Spain has never really accomplished anything in the tournament before so their abscense would not matter that much. I don't see how those countries add so much that the tournament would be a complete joke without them. Same thing with Holland missing in 2002.

As for France the story is a little different because they won in 1998 and at Euro 2000, however without Les Blues would the tournament not be as good? That is open to interpretation, but I don't think so.

Now if ALL three of the aforementioned countries did not reach Germany it would be a massive disappointment for some, however the tournament would go on and probably still be a very good showcase of football. The chances of all three not making it are very, very slim.

A tournament without England, Spain and France, as you said, isn't a world cup for me.
Of course it wouldn't be a World Cup for you....cuz you wouldn't be there. :howler:

England will come around and probably make the Finals anyway. But you cannot seriously say the World Cup wouldn't be the same without England, Spain, France or anybody except Brazil to be honest. A combination would indeed be strange though.

While those games were exciting for all Italian fans ...extra time goal from Baggio versus Nigeria...late minute Baggio goal versus Spain...the atmosphere was nothing like what you will catch in most Serie A stadiums...most of the time the choreography, chants, passion and characters is worth the price of admission alone.

Pado, Sergio, Vin: any of you make it to the USA 94 games??

That till date, remains my all time favourite Azzuri moment (not the extra time penalty, the stoppage time goal). Unbelievable range of emotions, in a matter of miliseconds. And lets not forget, just how superb that strike was from the edge of the d.

As for the club scene, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be on my way to Europe just to catch a live Juve game, sometime in the near future.

That goal was full of emotions for many reasons...Italy was considered 'cooked' after Zola's red card (to this day one the worse calls of officiating history) and the Nigeria goal from the corner kick. Plus, Baggio was not living up to his name ... then as I remember defender Roberto Mussi cut onto the edge of the box from the right and fed Baggio a low ball which he put in at the edge of the goal ...

However, my favorite goal had to be Italy versus Spain when Signori passed a floater to Baggio while going down on a tackle and spinning ...Baggio beat a defender rom what looked like an impossible angle put the ball into the net...

If I recall it right, the ball actually hadn't gone out of play and they were given the corner, 6th minute of the game I think it was when they struck. And oh hell yea, the Zola call had to be worse than Bryan Moreno's calling in 2002. And how long had Gianfranco been on? Must've been only a couple of minutes, when he jut came in as a sub. Yea, I remember thats when Baggio began his heroic effort to take them through Spain and Bulgaria singlehandedly. I missed much of the match against Spain, therein though I remember Dino Baggio or Tassotti was it? Busted open Luis Enrique. Signori for most part though was outdone by Baggio in USA. I'd say there were 2 superheroes in that cup, one the obvious, the other was Gianluca Pagliuca who even impressed in 98 when he came in as a late late replacement for Gigi.
