Perhaps...but no amount of Vodlka can make an Interista think they will win the Scudetto. (No relevance here but I just thought I would add it in...)
Actually Vodka is not needed for this, Interisti believe they are winning the Scudetto every summer watching Moratti's transfers.

My Miccoli thing was a joke, of course.

What does Milan need? Consistency in attack besides Sheva. IMO, Crespo didn't provide enough. Vieri is a good step. Gila would do nicely (and I will curse your rossoneri-striped ass if that goes through next week :wth: ).

Midfield seems pretty solid. A lot of criticisms towards Seedorf last season, but I also think he had an erratic year. An acquisition here is possible, but it is far less likely, IMO.

Beyond Nesta, the defensive line is going to go into Montero mode with age pretty soon. The question is when. Athletes train hard into their later years until they hit this point where their training habits cannot keep up with their slide in physical abilities when compared to their opponents. Then there's the downward spiral -- like a dieter who suddenly says "screw it all!" and goes all Kirstie Alley ballistic overnight. Juve is showing some signs there, but IMO, it's even more of a case at Milan.

Still, I think Milan will do the short-term thing and go after buffering their attack versus more of a long-term investment and sign a younger, class defensive back (and there aren't a ton I could see starting at Milan anytime soon).

Andy...I spoke about this before. Capello international record with Milan was downright terrible....if a coach was ever to blame for a loss..some of those games are classic examples: benching Savicevic with no explanation and so on.
Yes that was not a very good move and God only knows why Capello did that. Capello's record in Europe is no better nor worse than Marcelo Lippi's multiple Finale defeats, however it's difficult to blame the latter for 2003 at least.

Well, if you go by records Jose Mourinho and Rafa Benitez currently.
Yes, but they have won one CL and UEFA cup each only. Personally I cannot think of a coach who can dominate a European championship.

Its almost impossible nowadays, esepcially when about 9 teams are just as capable of winning the Champions League as each other, and one off day can be the end for a year.

This is why I asked my question in the first place, I know that no coach can be named dominant actually.

Benitez first had to lose two consecutive CL Finals with Valencia before he finally broke through. Yeah, he and Carletto were both tagged as "losers" by a body of journalists who never won anything themselves.

Let's face it: the CL is so competitive, and it's prone to so many short-term factors that must go your way, that repeat success is almost like a lottery.

To give credit, or fault, to a coach as the decisive factor is giving the role of coach far too much importance in CL success, IMO.

Erm, not sure what you're trying to say; don't you mean Hector Cuper for those two losses, Pado?

Well it isn't going to be Messina!

Great question. Maybe it is Bologna... or another Serie B club? This is gonna be intriguing. But I'm sure the FIGC manual has chapters dedicated to this sort of thing.
