Let's just assume that we will qualify for the CL next season, how would we be seeded. As most of you probably know, teams are divided into 4 pots for the group stage draw of the CL. The seeding is done according to the teams international performance of the last (don't know exactly) couple of years.

We haven't been playing internationally for the last two years, how will that affect Juve's seeding? Is it even possible to know that now or will it be decided at some point in the future?

If we assume not to be one of the top seeds anymore, then the next CL season could be seriously messed up (especially if Fiorentina qualifies). Bayern will be one of the teams to watch and they won't be top seed for sure. We could end up in a group with one of the big clubs/top seeds, Bayern and a possible strong 4th (or 3rd depending on how we are seeded).

What du you guys think?

Here are the current standings (teams in bold are still playing in Europe)

1. AC Milan 119.687
2. Chelsea 116.006
3. Liverpool 113.006
4. FC Barcelona 111.507
5. Arsenal 109.006
6. Sevilla 102.507
7. Olympique Lyon 99.380
8. Manchester United 97.006
9. Internazionale 96.687
10. Real Madrid 93.507
11. PSV Eindhoven 90.555
12. Villarreal 90.507
13. Bayern München 87.795
14. Newcastle United 84.006
15. Valencia 83.507
16. AS Roma 81.687
17. FC Porto 81.129
18. Benfica 77.129
19. Werder Bremen 73.795
20. AZ Alkmaar 69.555
21. Schalke 04 66.795
22. Juventus 66.687
23. Sporting CP Lisbon 66.129
24. Olympique Marseille 63.380
25. Espanyol 62.507
26. Steaua Bucuresti 59.398
27. AS Monaco 59.380
28. CSKA Moscow 58.694
29. Glasgow Rangers 58.436
30. Middlesbrough 57.006
31. Tottenham Hotspur 55.006
32. AC Parma 54.687
33. Lille OSC 54.380
34. Bayer Leverkusen 53.795
35. AJ Auxerre 53.380

------------

As you can see, we'll be in pot 2 or pot 3
We have no chances to be group holders, obviously, and we also can not be placed in pot 4.

This way as things stand now we'll be in pot 3.
If we want to be in pot 2, at least 6 teams that are placed above us in the standings MUSTN'T qualify for CL, and if Sporting overtake us, then at least 7 teams of the ones above us mustn't qualify for CL next year.

New Castle and AZ Alkmaar surely won't play in CL next year, so at least 4 or 5 more of the teams above us must not qualify for CL if we want to be placed in pot 2 and avoid teams like Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in our group.

And of course, as Bes said, we need to qualify for the CL first.

Edit: Glasgow can also end above us, but for that to happen they will either have to win UEFA Cup or play in the final and win all their 1/4 and 1/2 final matches.

As long as we draw either PSV or Ajax(or Feyenoord, Twente, Heerenveen).
haha i was thinking a similar thing, im hoping that we draw either Rangers or celtic.

But it looks unlikely as Rangers might be in Pot 3 and celtic were in Pot 3 last year.

so lets hope by some miracle we can get in Pot 2, an easier draw and the chance i get to see them. :D

But lets concentrate on qualifying first!

I wish we end up playing IFK Göteborg if we make it and IFK reach the second qualifying round.

Valencia, Sevilla and Benfica might not make it either but I guess it is still a bit to early to worry about it already.

Thats why i said, we should concentrate on the hunt for the second space,
but our points are still good enough for the UEFA cup.
We always had horrible seeds, expect this one to be the hardest of the decade and we now have the weakest team of the decade, our chances to qualify in the groups are minimal...

if we qualified to the CL we shouldn't care who we face, they should be scared to be playing with us in the same grop as we will be the underdogs and everybody knows what happens when Juves are underdogs :D

Qualify for the groups or from the groups ?
Because if we don't pass the qualifications it will be the surprise of the last 10 years.
The team we'll get in the qualifications will be a champ of Norway, Sweden, Croatia, Denmark, Poland etc.

And even if we find ourselves in the 3rd pot we can still get a group that will look like this, for example

1. Lyon
2. Sporting
3. Juventus
4. Steaua

But it's very important if we're in pot 2 because that way only the holders will be a top team, while teams from pot 3 and pot 4 will be easily beatable.

The worst situation we can find ourselves in is if we're in pot 3 and we get this group

1. Barcelona/Manchester/Liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal
2. Real Madrid/Bayern
3. Juve
4. Some french team...Nancy, as things stand right now

we will kick Barca's or MAnchester's ass next season :spliff: . Let's first qualify for CHL and pass the qualification round and then almost win it like back in 2000 when we hardly qualified to the knock out stage. I still remember Tudor's volley against Deportivo, and Barca match

What's with all the pessimism ?
If Fenerbahce or Schalke made it to the 1/4's then why are you so sure that we won't qualify for CL or we won't pass the groups ?

The quarters are the minimum we'll get next year. With a bit of luck with the draw we can make it to the semis as well. And there isn't much difference between the semifinal and the final. Not to mention that the final is one single match where form and luck play big part.

Hey, we can win the whole damn thing :D
