I'm a bit scared with a person not having an emotional bond with Juventus or this website and forums being the new owner. It could cause problems in the long term. Besides that I fear a lot more advertising then there is now.

I'm especially concerned with the statement that he is going to increase discipline on the forums. I think that the rules are already quite harsh, on most other football forums there is a total chaos, but this forum really seems capable on the members correcting each other.

As long as Gray stays as a moderator (a real shame that Tom/Paolo_Montero isn't one anymore) I'm confident that everything will work out. The future will tell in which direction the forum is heading.

* Can you give us more details on your plans?

My main motivation is to try to take it a step further, a new layout (eventually), new forum functions (such an arcade with a high score list) and software (vBulletin 3).

* What kind of advertising will there be?

There will be advertising, but only to cover the costs. The ads will not be annoying, probably just a single 468x60 google ad (which I can blend in so it'll hardly be noticable). There will never be any popups or huge annoying ads of any kind, I'm not buying the site to make money on it, contrary to what some people believe.

* You say in your bid you know the 'key' members... Who are they and why?

I wasn't aware my discussions or the "survival scheme" with Martin had become public, not that I mind it. Anyway, here's what my answer was:

"Though I’m not a member of the community as a poster, I closely follow it and recognize many of the key posters"

With other words, I never claimed I knew any of you, just recognized the user names and the way of posting. ;)

* Why do you have an issue with swearing ?

I think it looks bad with too much cursing, a shout here and there isn't too bad.

* Expand on your stance on moderation ?

I plan on keeping the moderating team as is and will see if they follow my ideas of how to run a forum.

As you all know by now thanks to the "Let's all throw a rock at the new owner" thread ;), I own and run another large forum - www.emutalk.net, and I can't see any reason why I would like to run this forum differently. Ask the members over there what they think of how the forum is run if you want, I'm confident most are pleased.

* Who will be mods?

See above.

* Will you consult the current members over the future of the forum ?

That's what I'm doing right now. :)

* Why are you here ?

To take up a very interesting project, I have some great ideas, you'll know them shortly.

* What do ytou know about juve ?

When I lived in the US (1997,1998) I had an italian friend who was a huge Juve fan so I know quite a bit of history. :)

Here's my answer to the #3 of the survival scheme:

3. When did you first discover Juventuz?

It was around the time Zlatan became an official Juventus player, I’ve followed his career ever since he played in Malmö, and I will continue to follow it forever as he’s an amazing player. As I’m sure he will stay in Juventus for a long time, the club usually signs people for a long time), I’m confident I won’t lose interest in Juventuz. I’ve always had interest in Juventus and have respected it as one of the greatest teams in the world, but have not been a manic fan until after Zlatan joined. :)

* Are we gonna get a vbulletin update ?

Immediately.

* Why are you good for this forum ?

I have lots of experience in running a busy forum, and I'm pretty good at picking moderators with my kind ideas of how it should be run.

* Why should we stay under your rule ?

Under my rule? I may be the new owner but I will never try to rule you. ;)

On a serious note: Since I will serve you well.

* Why did you buy a forum for a team you are so new to ?

Because it's my primary interest. An interest doesn't have age.

* What do you expect from us ?

To behave like adults and love, serve and protect your team.

* Can you debate ??

Bring it on.

* Are you an arse ?

Only when I'm drunk.

* Are you a ban first type guy ?

Yes, if the user is an idiot I will immediately ban.

* What is your stance on dual accounts ?

I don't see any reason why anyone would want to use dual accounts.

* What is your stance on racism ?

I'm against all forms of racism.

* What is your stance on nationalism ?

As above

* What is your stance on bigotry ?

As above

* What is your stance on beastiality and necrophilia ?

...

* Will we get larger avatars ?

The maximum avatar size will be 100x100 pixels.

* Will we get custom titles ?

Yes we will.

* Will you implement a new ranking system that conveys the poster rather than jus the count ?

No

* What new features do you have in mind ?

There will be a layout change due to the forum software upgrade, and a few nice hacks installed, such as an arcade and IRC applet, statistics etc.

* Do you have a partner ? Has he / she ever cheated on you ? If so... did that really eat you up ?

Currently no

* What are your thoughts on a member participation area (quiz, games etc ) ?

Definitely important. Gotta keep our members competing. :D

* Are you gonna offer muscolino a mod position ?

Depends on how he'll treat me, at the other thread he seemed pretty annoyed at me for some reason.

* Are you gonna ban martin ?

lol no, why would I?

* What are your thoughts on members voting for mods ?

There will be no such thing, I pick the mods.

* Are your mods gonna be from the various groups of people on this forum or jus all people that think along your line ?

I believe the team has to share the same idea of how a forum should be run, that being said, diversity is also important. As long as they're good mods I'm happy. :)

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

To asnwer your question Martin, Muscolino is the only one that competed with you for buying the site. He lost, you won, he'ce he's a bit bitter.

* I hope this new Martin isn't a Zlatan fan more than a Juve one.

Oh I love the whole team, believe. :) But Zlatan especially. ;)

* Are you primarily concerned with the technical aspects of running the site or would you get involved with member interaction, footie discussions etc.?

Not worried at all, I've been running my own dedicated linux servers for years, so on the technical side I'm not worried. My only concern is how long it'll take until you start loving me. :( j/k

* How do you,as the new owner, plan to run the forums (which are the heart and soul of Juventuz) while tackling the fact that you have little knowledge of the goings-on in the forum and know practically nobody here?

I'm a regular poster of many large forums, it doesn't take that long to get to know people. I plan to run the forums the way I am and think, you'll get to know me soon enough, be sure of that.

* *Important*How are you planning to allocate your time amongst your many websites? From what I've heard from Martin M. it takes a good amount of his time, do you have the time to run this site to the best of your ability? And if related problems arise, would you pull the plug on Juventuz as compared to your other websites?

Of course I'll do my best, why else would I buy the site? I work from home and spend a lot of time in front of the computer, time is no problem. I will never pull the plug on the site.

* Have you used any of your other websites to make money?

I run a service that provides free hosting in exchange of banner space. Some sites generate more revenue than others but in the end it generally evens out. The servers aren't exactly free.

* How much power are you willing to give to the people of this forum? In other words, will you release us from this autocratic monarchy that Martin's established?:D

I'm the new, evil dictator. I will tolerate no opinions! Seriously, don't worry, I'll let you have your voice heard. ;)

Thx for answering these questions Martin II!

I really hope this place can stay like it is, and why not use a little update here and there!

I guess you've been a bit shocked by the reactions, but we were kinda worried you didn't appear after buying our "home"....

Good idea.

1. How long exactly have you been lurking around the forum and why have you never joined before? it seems odd to me that you would make a 1000$ offer for a forum you never participated in, hence making me think that maybe you're not in it just as a hobby, or that you could be looking to make money out of it.

2. How do you plan to position yourself towards the members here and the general state of the forum? This forum has a unique atmosphere that could be ruined by the new owner being too strict or trying to change it too rapidly.

That Slipknot site is just hosted on his network I believe..I went on it the other day and the webmaster is not our very own Martin Nathell. So Slipknot slurs can now cease..unless he really is a 'maggot'?

Do you think Cassano should be brought to Juve?

How do you feel towards Capello?

Does Del Piero deserve a starting position on the team?

Well, like I said before, Juventus is my primary interest. Since when do you have to be a fan for 5 years before it counts?

I don't know about the rest of you, but $1000 is a lot for me, and I've worked hard for that money. I have no intentions of making any money on the site. If I would, I would certainly invest that $1000 in some other type of site that's more interesting for advertisers.

To put is simple: It's very hard to make money on this type of site. I wouldn't buy it if money was the interest.

* 2. How do you plan to position yourself towards the members here and the general state of the forum? This forum has a unique atmosphere that could be ruined by the new owner being too strict or trying to change it too rapidly.

I've thought about that a lot, and I agree with you. I think I answered something like that in the "survival scheme" as well. There won't be any drastic changes, the moderating team will stay like it is today (for now) and I'd like to know the moderating team well and their ideas before even starting to change how it's run.

* Do you think Cassano should be brought to Juve?

He's a very talented player, no doubt. If he's right for Juve, well that's another question. I heard Roma isn't allowed to do any transfers this season though.

* How do you feel towards Capello?

Brilliant. He's shown he's a great coach over and over again, even when people have questioned his substitutions and starting lineups. He has a great eye for the game.

* Does Del Piero deserve a starting position on the team?

Yes, definitely. He's had a good season behind him.

Sorry folks, that's all for today. Gotta get some sleep. :)

Thanks for answering a few of my questions... I have others i may ask later...

For now... a few comments on your reply...

    ++ [ originally posted by MartinN ] ++

With other words, I never claimed I knew any of you, just recognized the user names and the way of posting. ;)
I never meant you 'know' them... I was refering to where you said you recognise the key posters... as such wondered who in your opinion they were?

    * Why do you have an issue with swearing ?

I think it looks bad with too much cursing, a shout here and there isn't too bad.
Ok.. and mostly agree though i do urge you to have look around before you come down on thsi... Eg. the way certain posters interact between each other...
Especially take a close look at 'nick against the world' before you comment on actions there as it is like nothing else... in essence a forum of its own

    * Will you consult the current members over the future of the forum ?

    That's what I'm doing right now. :)
I was meaning... as development etc goes forth will you consult the members along the way... or will you jus steam forward with what you feel like doing?

    * What do ytou know about juve ?

When I lived in the US (1997,1998) I had an italian friend who was a huge Juve fan so I know quite a bit of history. :)
That was probably not a fair question... I wont get into this area

    3. When did you first discover Juventuz?

    I meant juventuz not juventus

    * Are we gonna get a vbulletin update ?

    Immediately.
Thank god for that... silly thing... but will we get spoiler spaces?

    * Why did you buy a forum for a team you are so new to ?

Because it's my primary interest. An interest doesn't have age.
Now theres a subject for a whole new debate

    * What do you expect from us ?

To behave like adults and love, serve and protect your team.
    LOL

    * Can you debate ??

    Bring it on.
Good, hopefully we will find out once you've settled in

    * What is your stance on dual accounts ?

I don't see any reason why anyone would want to use dual accounts.
Its actually been a problem here that ive been boring people to death about the need to stamp it out... Whats your view?

    * What is your stance on beastiality and necrophilia ?

    ...
Hmmmm... One has to ask ones self if he Can be trusted

    * Will you implement a new ranking system that conveys the poster rather than jus the count ?

    No
Anyother type of change in ranking?

    * What are your thoughts on members voting for mods ?

There will be no such thing, I pick the mods.
    Good

    * What new features do you have in mind ?

There will be a layout change due to the forum software upgrade, and a few nice hacks installed, such as an arcade and IRC applet, statistics etc.
Sounds interesting... Stats? do you mean club stats? if so do you have resources for these?

    * What are your thoughts on a member participation area (quiz, games etc ) ?

Definitely important. Gotta keep our members competing. :D
Good... ive allways thought this is a side of the forum that is lacking... i thought my quiz went down very well and things like the prediction game are good... hopefully we will see much more...

Out of interest how do you think you would have done in my quiz??
    http://www.juventuz.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4927&highlight=pepsi+challenge

    * Are you gonna ban martin ?

    lol no, why would I?
    Because it would be funny!

    Sounds pretty decent so far...

    Welcome and have fun!!

A quick question as everyone seems to hate it... are you gonna get rid of the 60second rule??

Also... do you really like slipknot or did you jus add that for comedy value?

BTW : You will hear people say im elitist.. im a bastard, an arsehole etc etc... Its all true
