Yes 1 game and I write him off. In the end run, 3 points is much more important for me than having some semi decent player playing on our team, just because he "has" potential.
Barzagli will cost way to much, and after his performance yesterday, then i would without a doubt choose Legro to be our CB in the next season, then pay to much for a semi decent talent, which may or may not develop into something special.

I actually sat in the transfer period, and crossed my fingers for us to get Barzagli while reading stuff about how overrated he was, and i ignored them. Right now, i don't want him, i guess its up to him to prove me wrong. Which i hope he does.

hmm yea he is 1st choice for Italy, Palermo's captain and the natural successor to Nesta...and he needs to convince you?
he's first choice for Italy because there arent any other options and because Materazzi is injured..i for one dont think he'd get into the first teams in Argemtina,England,Portugal or France.

That's an insult to Nesta :faq2: C'mon guys get real and realise and Barzagli is not nowhere good as Nesta is and will never be, I said that before and I'm saying it now.

First choice?

If not Nesta retired, he would have been 4.rd choice of 2 possible. But in this scenario, where we don't have Nesta. People like Cannavaro and Materazzi are in-front of him. Heck, even Chiellini will be a more of a solid shot, in terms of getting a starting spot at the European championship.

Barzagli isn't bad, don't get me wrong. But there is just a lot better options. If all our defenders are fit and on-form, i still wouldn't put him in as a starter. Andrade, Chiellini and a form fit Legro is better in my books. I even think that Criscito will develop into a better defender than Barzagli in time.

Give us something solid, no more 1 year wonders, please! We allready had our cut of those. No more Baiocco, Paramatti and Boumsong.

why did ranieri refuse him ? :shifty:

i want him very much simply because he's promising and italian
Barzagli is overrated. And I came to this conclusion after watching MANY Palermo games, not just Juventus one.

barzagli didn't look to good today. so i say zapata!
Might as well write off any defender on Earth who has a bad game. :disagree:

:disagree:

Barzagli is miles away from Nesta and Cannavaro. Even Materazzi. Chiellini is already a better defender. Hell, even Legro is a better defender than Barzagli on top form.

People need to stop overrating Italian defenders. So what if he is young and Italian and play for his national team? Is that the criteria of becoming a Juve player? With that policy we wouldn´t be a club we are today.

Why sign him when we can gt a better DEF? And trust me, we can get a better defender. The point is that we get a WORLD CLASS one. And Barzagli is not one of them and won´t become one. He is nearing his footballing peak of career.

For example, I like Zapata more and I think Barzagli will be just his shadow in the near future. The same goes for Chiellini.

he's first choice for Italy because there arent any other options and because Materazzi is injured..i for one dont think he'd get into the first teams in Argemtina,England,Portugal or France.
He is 1st choice defender because of lack of other options. You´ll see in the near future that he will lose his spot.

Its quite unfair to judge Barzagli based on one game where he was horribly exposed in an incompetent 3-5-2 formation. However, he is by no means, a Nesta.

He would however greatly benefit from a move to a strong team where he would not be relied upon and exposed as much. The only reasons Criscito and Molinaro were not as exposed as they could have been (aside from Palermo's pop gun offense), was due to Nocerino and Zanetti being right there to bail them out, as well as Legro's strong play and ability to cover. They were definitely the weak-links of an otherwise strong Juve team yesterday.

If Palermo's midfield didn't leave Barzagli, Zaccardo and Biava so high and dry, there's no way they would have hemorraged 5 goals. That midfield was atrocious... and often Juve was actually able to have a numbers advantage on the Palermo defense.

That being said, based upon all the games I've seen Palermo play... I think Zaccardo would be a much better option than Barzagli, and likely much cheaper. He was much more defensively responsible than Grygera, Criscito or Molinaro, more offensively adept than Zebina, and it seemed most of Palermo's chances started from Zaccardo. He'd be ideal on either wing, in some combination of Andrade, Chiellini, Legrottaglie and one of Zebina or Grygera.

Barzagli is either overrated here,or he's underrated here.People will murder him by saying that he isnt good for anything, while others will call him the next Nesta. The truth is,he isnt so bad,nor is he so good.Is he an improvment over our current back 4?Yes he is,if you put Andrade's injury into the equation.Does he deserve to play for Italy?Based on his current performances for the national team, yes he does.I wont get into wether Materazzi or Chilenni will eventually overtake him,but i dont see it happening it anytime soon since he's done very well for Italy so far and i personally back him to continue doing it.

Right now we really don't need a new defender even tho I wished that Barzagli or Milito would join us during the summer. We have Chiellini, Legrottaglie, Andrade and Criscito in that position. What we need is a new left-back, maybe Pasqual, Balzaretti, Jeremy Mathieu are promising players, even tho most agree that the latter isn't a good defender.
