A number of them id be more than happy with.. I'd take Meira, Marquez, Alex, Ivanovic, Lugano, Zapata or Barzagli but..

- Meira/Marquez/Alex are out of Secco's range
- Ivanovic would be great as he can play anywhere but i like him more as a RB than CB, espicially in Italy
- Lugano is the most realistic CB we have a shot of getting
- The ship for barzagli has came n gone.. which is a shame

Giants eye Portuguese prodigy Tuesday 9 October, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus and Inter are ready to fight for the signature of Portuguese Under-21 defender Manuel Da Costa, according to Italian Press reports.

The French-born defensive starlet is currently plying his trade for Dutch champions PSV since arriving from Nancy in 2004.

It is believed that the Old Lady have been tracking the 21-year-old for several months, but Inter may try and steal the gifted youngster.

PSV refused an offer of around £6m from Porto for Da Costa last summer, but £7m will activate his rescission clause.

Juventus already have an alternative in Lokomotiv Moscow star Branislav Ivanovic.

The Bianconeri were impressed by his performance at the summer’s European Under-21 championships, but may be put off by the valuation of nearly £10m.

In the immediate aftermath of Jorge Andrade’s serious injury, Claudio Ranieri was expected to invest in a solution, but he now seems likely to keep faith in youngster Domenico Criscito.

Juve has beign linked with Dario Simic recently. The lack of playing time forced him to ask for beign transfer listed.
Even that Simic didnt had such a succesful spell at Milan, i would be very sad to see him leaving us.
Anyway, everything it's up to booth clubs.

EDIT The price tag is 2 Milion euros.

Bummer :(

I hope Secco will realise we need a WC defender and not some second choice players who are not starters in their teams.

If we have a good choice in winter we may proceed but IMO we don't need to be harry in our decisions. We have to make careful steps and not not buying everyone we see in front of us.

Juventus Eye Up 'New Barzagli’

Juventus are eyeing up a January transfer bid for young Cagliari centre-back Michele Canini.
Juventus Eye Up 'New Barzagli’

The 22-year-old ex-Italy Under-21 international, was regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in Italy. However a serious injury ruled him out for most of last season and questions were asked whether he would return as the same player.

However Canini is now back and many are labelling the youngster as the 'New Andrea Barzagli’, after the Palermo stopper. Juventus are in desperate need of defenders after Jorge Andrade broke his kneecap against Roma in week four, and was all but ruled out for the rest of the season.

A host of stoppers have been linked with the Bianconeri, including Branislav Ivanovic, Tomas Ujfalusi, Diego Lugano, Luisao and even Luigi Di Biagio.

Coach Claudio Ranieri believes that Canini will fit in perfectly with Juventus’ new system of buying developing youngsters, rather than established stars.

La Vecchia Signora already have a plethora of promising young talents on their books coming through, including 20-year-old wonderkid Sebastian Giovinco, Domenico Criscito, Raffaele Palladino, Cristian Molinaro, Claudio Marchisio and Paolo De Ceglie.

Hes 23, plays regulary for Zenit and for the Slovak national team. Liverpool, Marseille and Hamburg wanted him in the past, but Zenit wont sell him and the asking price was too high(beside that he likes the club and will stay there). Klose and other big strikers looked like amateurs beside him.
