Cesc is underperforming for so long, guy looks so lethargic it's sad to watch him sometimes. Still posses killer pass, but everything else is downgrading in his skill set. Plus 9.6M net salary is just to much for what he gives on the pitch. Before Brexit it was even bigger.

His salary is the main reason he will stay... who will even give him half following last season?
I agree about the underperforming part - but that means he has something to prove. he's a great player.. but last season he looked burned out.

'he played poorly last year' argument makes no sense really. Not for him but any player out there. Chelsea as a whole sucked too.
that time spent in Barcelona didn't have good efects on him. He had aggression, grinta, work rate and alot of fighting spirit in him while at Arsenal. But after that time in Barcelona, kind of lost all of that.

Cesc was the proposed second choice if Utd failed to get pogba. Though I guess we can rule that out. But iirc there were a few others after him too. Categorically you can't rule out cesc staying either. It will be either him or matic IMO

conte likes the 3 in midfield with the box to box working really hard. i can see him place fabregas in pirlo role and matic kante box to box mids.

Courtois
Ivanovic Cahill Terry/Zouma Azpel
kante fabregas matic
Willian Costa Hazard
