Do you really think with the new regulations in Serie A we can afford to have 3-4 players who essentially be fighting for 1 spot? Especially considering our squad will probably be like 23 players next season (plus Primavera players)

I think Mancini is a very average coach and he'll hold them back again. I don't think signing the likes of Ansaldi and some Turkish fullback really changes much. Although I do think Banega is a good signing. Anyway, they're not going to be any threat until they build a stadium and therefore actually have more than 200m euros in revenue a season. Midtable EPL clubs will be making more than them next season. I don't think the Chinese are going to do a PSG and use inflated sponsorship deals to bypass FFP, although that remains to be seen. Not sure if it's even possible because I think they signed a new deal with Pirelli last season.

I'm assuming we're playing 3-5-2 this season again, so I think Pjanic and Pogba will be starting midfielders. That means Khedira, Lemina, Marchisio when he comes back, and supposedly Matic fighting for the other spot. I know Khedira didn't play in the DM spot typically last season, but he can and I believe he'll do so more this season

Although I do think Banega is a good signing. Personally I believe Icardi is one of the most overrated players in the league and disrupts their attack with the way he plays (in that he continually tries to get in behind defenders rather than ever helping in building attacks so he is almost always not in a position to receive anything other than the perfect ball). Anyway, they're not going to be any threat until they build a stadium and therefore actually have more than 200m euros in revenue a season. We need 5 quality CMs due to Khedira being injury prone and Marchisio missing half of next season. When all are fit we have

    Khedira/Pjanic Marchisio/Matic Pogba/Lemina

Sturaro as 7th choice. With 3 competitions, Marchisio and Khedira missing a lot of games and Pogba getting more rest (he played too much last season), as well as the possibility of a 4312 once Marchisio returns, i think we won't have the problem of lack of playing time. Pereyra and Nanes will leave and maybe Asa too.

Yep its less to do with money and more to do with the calibre of player we're targetting. We could get Matic for a bargain price and we could still see one of our starters leaving.

Pjanic, Marchisio, Pogba, Matic, Khedira. 5 established midfielders with 2 of these 5 riding the bench? Pure delusion.

I hope these are baseless rumors.

marchisio is out for half a season, that makes 4 players for 3 spots. also, khedira is injured a lot. matic won't be a luxury/overkill at all.

And when he comes back, you relegate one or two established players on the bench or Marchisio himself which probably won't happen.
I wouldn't say it would be an overkill if we get a young player or a squad player who'd be ready to accept the bench on the other hand not with guys like Matic.

i don't see the matic deal happening at all. i'm just saying if we really need 2 quality players for the same spot, then matic would easily fit into this squad, especially when we have an injured and an injury prone midfielder. if it's not matic (and that's my guess, 99% he'll stay in londongrad), then it's somebody else. i can see beppe selling pereyra, hernanes, padoin (it's done already), even asamoah, and bring in an other quality mid. and i'm fine with that.

    What u like about him?
Not the type of player to have fans perse, but is a very very good no nonsense unimaginative defensive CM/DM. Pretty much all about holding his zone and tackles alot, not that mobile (not because he is slow, but keeps himself in his holding area mostly) tho has occasional bursts that shows potential for quality box to box play. Our midfield would be stronger for signing this guy, I would prefer Kante (more of an insane engine), but this guys tackling and controll would make our midfield a bit better.

I hope the signing would be on a bargain tho, otherwise I wouldnt really like it and prefer if we looked elsewhere.
