What you you think about Jermaine Jones? He played for Germany in some friendlies and now all of a sudden he found his love for America after he felt mistreated.Just curious.
He seems like a mercenary and a troublemaker, but he did grow up in Chicago. Only reason he was born in Germany is because his family was stationed at a US base.

I wouldn't care if he decided to play for the US. Lowe refuses to play the guy in anything other than friendlies. He has dual citizenship and could have chosen the US off the bat. But he didn't. He's basically a German Amauri.

As far as skill, he could walk on to this US team. We don't have a midfielder like him, so he would benefit the team. I still wonder if Bob Bradley will do the smart thing and call him up at the Gold Cup before Lowe comes to his senses. Or he could become another Subotic.

I have the same impression. So you're not really welcoming this move, right? Can't blame you,I wouldn't neither.

He would be a very useful player for your NT obviously and would become an important player soon.Don't worry about Löw,he won't ever calll him up again. They accepted his decision.

If Rossi would be still eligible to play for the USA and if he did the exact same thing as Jones, would you welcome it as well?

Of course Jones stressed how American he feels and stuff, everybody would say that. It's not like he'd say:"I have no chance to play for Germany and that's why I'd like to play for my second choice, the American NT."

Jones doesn't speak English as a first language. He's like you said a German guy with an American parent that can't get into the German squad.

Rossi is as American as Jersey. So it's kind of a different circumstance. But of course we'd welcome Rossi if he tried to get into the Italy team and then couldn't and when he was 27 decided to play with the US.

I know. I checked yesterday when i was looking for a US NT player born out of USA. :D

I found only some Jewish guy who was born in Brazil and moved in US when he was 6, and Adu who also moved to USA when he was a kid.

One arguement is that Rossi was trained in the U.S (regardless of the fact it was b4 the age of 13), and therefore he is betraying the U.S by not choosing them.

These players chose to play for the Americans. They were born and "trained" in another country, yet chose the U.S.A.

If your argument is based on where they were born, these players were born outside the U.S, and moved to the states before the age of 13.

You can't downplay his Italian roots, so what reasonable arguments are left that prohibit Rossi from chosing Italy over the U.S.A?

Imo, it's nothing but bitterness from missing out on a great player.
