I hope we get Mutu, he is a great player and has proved he can cut it in Serie A.

As for DP, his performances have been absolutely awful, against Fiorentina he constantly gave the ball away. I'm fed up of people going on about what he has done in the past. In the present - which is all important - he should be on the subs bench.
Hopefully in 7 months time we'll see Adrian in a Juve shirt.
Why don't you comment about Nedved's last two games why not about Zlatan's first 7matches , why not about Camoranesi , Why always it has to be Del Piero WHY? , you guys are SICK, yeah you are mentally sick, whenever it comes about Football it's Del Piero, This thread was supposed to be talked about Mutu, Not to Judge Dp's performance and instead of BEING happy for the goal he scored Against Bayern, You guys AGAIN with what ZLATAN did... Your talking as if he's not Juve Player. DAMNN

Even when he was at Parma Alex was better, i think they both scored almost the same or Dp with one goal more
Mutu scored 2 more than Alex, and had the most assists in the league
++ [ originally posted by azzurri7 ] ++
but the diff is that Dp helped his team at that time win the Scud, but i don't see what Mutu did
Mutu scored more goals and got more assists than Alex, but because Alex plays for a big team, Mutu's achievement means nothing? Come on..

If anything, it's harder to perform well for a smaller team, and for your information Mutu helped Parma to the 5th position in the league, which is nothing to scoff at.

It's quite simple really. People criticise Alex and expect the most from him because he's our captain and highest paid player. He was quite possibly the best player in the world before his injury, and some people still treat him like he is. Given the hype that he still receives despite his inconsistency, of course people are going to criticse him more than Nedved, who always gives 110% effort even when he doesn't play well. Zlatan is 22 and just arrived in the toughest league in the world, yet he's our top scorer in Serie A, so what's your beef with Zlatan?

As for why people are talking about Del Piero in the Mutu thread, that's because Del Piero's is the position that Mutu will probably take if he comes to Juve, and because a whole bunch of Del Piero fanboys have come out saying that Mutu shouldn't come because DP pisses all over him.

I know it's hard to imagine, and hard to accept, but Del Piero has played miserably so far this season. This "miserable" status Alex recieves is compared to what his expectations were, what the media's expectations were, and what our expectations were. Of course we are happy that he scored, but when we look at what else he has done so far this season, we don't find that much to be happy about. As Graham said, Del Piero is our highest payed player and most notable player. Thats the reason why the bar is set so high for Del Piero. Like it or not, thats the way it is. Should not be any other way either.

Just speaking in theory here, but I wonder how many fans we would lose if Del Piero was transfered? How many fans would we lose if we let him go to Roma? I'm guessing a hell of a lot.

And what do you expect him to do? Del Piero was injured during the Euro and until the start of the season. It's not easy to come back as a goalscoring machine from an injury.

I know that Del Piero hasn't been playing well recently, despite scoring 5 goals, but criticizing him like this it's a little bit unfair to him.

Arif, on one hand people defend Del Piero because of his lack of fitness levels, and gradually decreasing playing time. On the other hand, they call him the symbol of the club. Well if he is to continue enjoying this iconic status, its only right our expectations of him remain sky high. It may sound critical when we say he doesnt score enough to be on this team, but far from it, he remains anonymous for large parts of the game, barring one or two stylish moves. Its no point arguing the fact that there are more deserving individuals starting on the pitch over Del Piero. And if we're to bring Mutu, im afraid Del Piero is going to be relegated to playing mentor to the younger talents in the game. Again, it may sound harsh to say this, but unfortunately its true.

baggio, I know people expect Del Piero to perform better. I expect more from him too. But people must take it to consideration that Del Piero hasn't been going well with injuries since 98', and it's a little bit hard for him to come back at his best. He was out for two weeks, and when he came back, even that not 100% fit, he scored three goals, and that's not that easy you know. I'm not trying to defend Del Piero, but people must stop criticizing him in that way, after all, we don't have anyone better who could take Del Piero's role. If someone was to come here, I wouldn't mind him taking Del Piero's place in the starting eleven, as I don't care just about one player, I care for Juve. If Miccoli was here, or if Mutu would come, I would gladly put them in front of Del Piero in starting eleven.

What? I'm talking like he's not a Juve player?! Just because he plays for Juve doesn't mean I have to automatically love him and think he's great.

Unfortunately a lot of people seem to have this view that DP should never be questioned because he's at Juve. It is ridiculous. At least Capello has the guts to stick him on the subs bench (something which Lippi would never do), and the only reason DP is in the starting 11 at all is only because at the moment Juve has a lack of any quality back up strikers.

If Mutu were to come, Capello wouldn't have any choice but to play him instead of DP. At the moment DP doesn't deserve to keep Zalayeta out of the side, so it's unlikely he'll keep someone as good as Mutu on the bench.

Someone said against Fiorentina DP was non-existant, I think that is too much praise! DP got the ball loads of times, but he constantly gave the ball away! At least if he was non-existant he wouldn't lose us possession so regularly.

This criticism is fair, I am not picking on DP just because he is DP, he was by far the worst player on the pitch and I would criticise any Juve player if they performed like that. The worst thing is, it wasn't a one off - the majority of his performances are like that (unless he's playing the mighty Siena of course).

Don't reply with stuff like "DP is Juve" and "he has done so much for us" blah blah blah, just be mature about it - someone (well actually a few people here) has criticised Alessandro Del Piero, if you disagree then fine, but at least back up your arguments with reasoned discussion - don't just start calling people "mentally sick" and other stupid, ungrounded accusations.

We all expect alot from Alex your right, but the season didn't start yet and i don't think he has done that bad scoring 5goals, i know he's the captain and we can only expect from a leader great things, but to criticize him Always for small things, just like some other did with Bayern-Juve , i don't see the Logic in this....

I don't think it's Dp's fault if he earns that much, i never saw him asking for a higher salary, and believe me Gray this guy still HAS alot to offer for us, and you'll see that...( save the last sentence i said ) and we will remind each other.

back to Mutu - Dp, when we give our opinion about Mutu doesn't mean we are afraid he'd take Dp's place, nah, it's not this, we care for this Club and we love juve, so ofcoarse we want the best for this club, and Mutu aint the best option for this Club....i'd still say Cassano is much better then Mutu.

I didn't say you should love him just because he plays for juve.

About Capello having the guts to bench Dp sometimes , i don't think when Dp is gonna be inforn , Capello will have the guts to stick him back to the bench:)...about Lippi, ofcoarse he wont bench a player that gave him alot of trophies.

Your talkin as if we lost all the matches cause of Dp, i repeat check how many minutes he has played so far before you judge coming back from a light injury.

About Dp loosing the ball lots of times, now i think you really got something against him, because you would judge Zlatan on that not Dp.

You said that your criticize any player who doesn't preforme well, but i didn't see that yet.
Oh yeah i forgot we lost against Reggina because of Alessandro Del Piero
Oh no we draw Palermo Because of Alex
we only won 1-0 against Fiorentina Because of Alex, not because of Fiorentina are competitve side, it's because of Alex..too bad.

why not?? but the problem is that Platini is too old the same goes for Ravanelli, while Dp just made the 30
