The main purpose of this post is not to step on anyone's toes, or to cause an argument or debate. But I would nonetheless like to open with the following: That after reading through some of these pages, I am shocked an appalled by what some of you guys are posting. It saddens me, because I've been posting with some of you for the better part of 20 years, and I've always respected you a lot.

From the bottom of my heart, I implore you: Please be better.

My 2 cents:

All I really want to say is that regardless of beliefs and viewpoints, nobody deserves to get killed for having them.

Personally, I lean to the right, but I would never jump for joy or rejoice if anyone on the left got brutally executed, which is what took place here.

Now, I have to point out that "leaning to the right" has a very different meaning in where I'm from (in alot of cases) as opposed to the US. Actually, being full blown right wing where I'm from, would probably still be considered moderate in the US.

But I digress;

I want to see human decency restored. I want us to stop dancing and making funny videos over other people's deaths, no matter who they are. I want there to be a bridge where there currently is nothing but a big divide.

For me, Charlie Kirk was all about that. Whether you liked him or not, at least one can't deny that he stepped up wherever he went with speech, with arguments, and the willingness to listen and talk. He had some controversial viewpoints, but at the end of the day he welcomed the debate.

To be gunned down, on University grounds, while debating opponents peacefully and thereby exercising the holiest (in my book) of rights; the freedom of speech, is not only a cruel act towards a citizen, a father, a husband, but also a direct stab at democracy itself.

Whether someone from the right or the left gets killed like this, it is wrong. Pure and simply cruel, evil and wrong. And endlessly sad.

I pray for Kirk's wife and kids, and I also pray for the USA, that there will one day be an end to this senseless "de facto" Civil War.

Coming back to this, I seriously doubt anyone here was happy to see this happen. The video of the shooting was brutal. But I wonder if you ever actually listened to his views or arguments. My black friends hate his guts, and I don’t blame them. And when it appears that the right is trying to run an Operation Gladio on everyone, when it’s obviously one of their own that killed him, you’re going to get some memes and jokes. His whole existence is everything that is wrong with the country. Just like his death. It’s almost like a meme in and of itself.

i'll just address this: kirk was all about divide himself. he was racist to begin with, he endorsed gun violence by labeling school shootings as a necessary evil, he despised women, was a huge advocate of israel and labeled zelinsky a dictator without any evidence (i hope we wouldn't call russian propaganda an evidence lol), he thought empathy was meaningless, etc. and he was a mediocre debater. check his debates with the oxford students, they cooked him alive. many of his arguments relied on misinformation, his debating style always included logical fallacies, it really showed that he wasn't an educated person. his willingness to talk rarely extended to debate with academics, because not only he hated them, he was smart enough to know that he was unprepared for such debates

the only tragic thing in kirk's death is the fact that he was assassinated. then again, he preached hate, so it's not a complete surprise.

and no, i don't celebrate his death. even though kirk would have brought public executions back (the irony...), i'd never support that. but the world didn't lose a hero. the world lost a hateful, divisive figure. his death was early and tragic, and that's all. maga lost something, his family lost a father. oh well, what about 800k+ palestinians, 10's of thousands of ukrainians, or the dozens of victims of completely unnecessary school shootings this year. and the president treats him like a hero while completely ignores the kids killed at a school a few hundred miles away from kirk's execution, or the minnesota lawmaker who trump also didn't give a shit about.

everything about current republican politics screams divide and that included kirk too.

on a completely different and personal note, while i disagree with you on kirk (and probably on politics in general), i wish you posted more, either in this thread or elsewhere.

If you follow and have interest in US politics you've heard of him, he's probably the biggest political influencer on the right in the US with direct ties to the White House.
He does these short form ''debates'' with college students that go viral on tiktok and insta, you don't need to spend a lot of time to understand what his deal is.

if you follow american politics even loosely, you come across people like him. i'd never follow kirk, loomer, fuentes, shapiro and the likes but i saw enough of them already to know who and what they are. in addition to that, kirk's statements are all over the internet since his death, everything i said about him comes with receipts

check his jubilee debate or his debate with cambridge students on youtube, that's a good way to start. there's also a couple of yt compilations of him for a crash course. he was smart and talented but half-prepared and had an overly aggressive style

or you can just read maxcap's bottom line borrowed from the maga twitter narrative and believe that he is rightfully put next to lennon, jesus or mlk lol
